3 Hand Lettered Stone Commemorative Plaques at Rufford Abbey Country Park Plaques are hand-made by local sculptor and stonemason Andy Oldfield, and are positioned on our Wall of Memories in a quiet area of the formal gardens. Roughly 70 letters / spaces 500 Please be aware that long messages are not possible on a hand lettered plaque it is best to keep the inscription very short. Lettering can be in either Roman (wide) or Lois (narrower) letters, depending on space available. Choice of lettering colour: gold, white, black, red bronze (brown). Price includes fixing in place, mountings, 20% and a donation to the park in order to help with park maintenance.

5 Memorial Benches Due to the very large number of memorial seats donated to the park over the years, we regret that we cannot accept any further memorial benches in the park. Applying for a Memorial Plaque To apply for a memorial plaque to be carved and placed on the Wall of Memories in the Formal Gardens, please fill in the application form in this brochure and send it to the address below. If you would like to discuss the types of stone and lettering etc, please contact Linda Hardy, Visitor Services Manager, who can explain the options over the phone, by , or arrange to meet you on site to talk through any questions you have. Park Improvement Donation Rufford Abbey Country Park is enjoyed by over 450,000 visitors each year and on limited budgets we are constantly striving to improve and conserve this beautiful place for future generations. A bequest or donation to the work of the park makes your loved one not only a part of Rufford s history, but also part of its future. Whether 10 or 1000, all donations to the park bequest fund will be used to make Rufford a better place, for example by replanting in the gardens, conserving woodland habitats, or installing nesting boxes in the woods. If your loved one had a particular interest in art or craft, it is also possible to donate to the work of the Rufford Craft Centre. Let us know your wishes and we will try to help.

Invoices are sent out from our County Hall headquarters after completion of the order.

7 Terms & Conditions Please Read Before Placing Order Orders are accepted subject to the conditions below. Please read these carefully and ensure you are happy with these before signing the order form. DAMAGE AND MAINTENANCE Rufford Abbey County Park is fortunate in suffering a low level of vandalism, but as with all outdoor public sites, it is not immune to damage. Should your plaque unfortunately be damaged by vandalism, the park is not liable for its replacement. We can arrange replacement but at your own cost. All items situated in an outdoor environment are subject to weathering and wear. We will replace at our cost any item which proves faulty (e.g. through defects in material or manufacture) within the first year. Thereafter any replacement or repair of items if requested is at the expense of the purchaser. We do not guarantee how long plaques and other items will last, but our aim is to select items and materials that are durable and of good quality. In order to keep the park tidy, safe and enjoyable, we reserve the right to remove and discard any memorial which is damaged, unsightly or dangerous to the public. MEMORIAL PLAQUES: FLORAL AND OTHER TRIBUTES Please bear in mind that the country park is a place of recreation and leisure, not a cemetery. Memories last forever, but flowers fade quickly. To maintain the park as a cheerful and enjoyable place for all users, we ask that families and friends do not leave floral tributes by memorials. Flowers decay rapidly outdoors and become unsightly, especially if wrapped in cellophane. Wreaths may upset other park users, and staff who have to remove them. Thank you for your understanding in observing these requests. By placing a memorials order with us you are agreeing to the conditions above. DONATIONS: WHAT YOUR DONATIONS WILL BE USED FOR? Money donated to the country park for memorial purposes will be used to make improvements that we could not afford from our normal day to day budget, for example: The replacement of specimen trees Spring bulbs, plants and garden enhancements Bird and bat boxes to encourage wildlife Education equipment for school parties The arts and park sculpture.

8 Scattering of Ashes We do not have any formal arrangements for the interment or scattering of ashes. Please ring the Visitor Services Manager Linda Hardy on for advice. Memorial Services and Receptions Sometimes it fells right to celebrate the life of a loved one in a place where they spent happy times with family, rather than in a crematorium or burial ground. We are now able to offer a Memorial Service led by a Registrar from Nottinghamshire County Council s Registration Service, followed by a reception or afternoon tea in the Talbot Suite, overlooking beautiful Rufford Lake. Please note that there are no burial or cremation services at the park. This is simply a way to remember and celebrate the life of life of friends, family or colleagues who have passed away. Floral Tributes For existing benches and plaques, we respectfully ask that no floral tributes are left on benches, as it can be upsetting to other park users or staff who have to remove them.
