We have built our brand, our business and our culture around hunters and shooters, as well as our devout support for the hunting tradition and the shooting sports industry. Many federal and state law enforcement agencies also rely on our products as they serve and protect. And in the arena of conservation, Winchester is an industry leader, supporting key organizations at both the national and grassroots level. In today s society, communication is king. 4 WINCHESTER AMMUNITION 2011 A New Look For Winchester Packaging In Fall, 2011 There have been big changes in the works for Winchester Ammunition product packaging. We felt the time was right for a fresh look and we looked to you, our customers, for input and direction. First and foremost, we wanted to know what product information you needed when deciding on an ammunition purchase. What, we asked, do our customers really want and need to see when they reach for a box of Winchester at their local retailer? It was a good question. And finding the answer took more than a year s worth of internal brand evaluation, quantitative research, several rounds of packaging design concepts and gathering all important hunter and shooter feedback in numerous focus group sessions. Long story short, the answer boiled down to the new packaging you see on these pages. For starters, you said you wanted to clearly see the Winchester brand a brand that has stood for quality, performance and innovation for more than 140 years. Consumers can quickly identify what load is contained in each box. The bullet type and construction features are easy to identify. An artistic image illustrates end use application or brand. Next, you wanted to know about the load specifications and performance features of the product in addition to shot size, type of bullet, bullet weight and velocity. You also wanted the lettering to be legible and LARGE so it could be seen from a distance. Bold logos are consistently placed on all sides to help consumer s quickly spot a desired product or bullet. 4

5 WINCHESTER AMMUNITION 2011 Across each skyline, the famous Winchester and Horse and Rider logos represent the sought-after brand and quality contained in each box of ammo. With new product packaging comes new opportunity. For example, the opportunity to give you a quick, clear and concise way to identify and select the ammunition you need. A new usage graphic identification system will help you immediately focus in on types of ammunition appropriate for hunting or shooting. TM LEAD FREE PROJECTILE Usage Graphics Prairie Dog Personal Protection Key product features and benefits are illustrated on the back panel along with ballistics information. Goose Pheasant Busted Clay End flaps will include product type, usage graphics and brand logos. Squirrel Quail Brown Bear Finally, you also wanted to see more of the goodod stuff bold graphics and illustrations highlighting the specific use, technology points and features of the product. While our existing packaging already included many of these elements we saw the need to refine the organization with new creative elements designed to help you make an informed decision about your ammunition at the point of purchase. Deer Moose Thanks to your input, our new packaging agin will feature bold load specifications and new usage icons (used throughout hout this product guide to help you quickly identify the right cartridge or shotshell load). The packaging will also include different imagery a bursting clay pigeon for shotgunners or an antlered buck for fall hunters in search of whitetail to give you a quick visual guide when you re on the hunt for a particular type of ammunition.
