6 National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by eating disorders. We campaign for prevention, improved access to quality treatment, and increased research funding to better understand and treat eating disorders. 8 Ai Pono The Anorexia and Bulimia Center of Hawaii (ABC Hawaii) is a collection of professionals in Hawaii who specialize in the treatment of eating disorders. The Ai Pono Women s Program assists women struggling with anorexia, bulimia or compulsive eating as they discover their own pathway to recovery through the nation s first eating disorders intensive outpatient program (EDIOP). The Ai Pono Body Balance Program provides support and intensive outpatient counseling to women and men struggling with disordered eating and disabling weight issues. 12 The Eating Disorders Program, Center for Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CCBT) in the Department of Psychology, University of Hawaii The CCBT-Eating Disorders Program treats many different individuals with a variety of problems. Most of our clients have difficulties in the areas of chronic dieting, food preoccupation, restrictive or disorganized eating patterns, fear of losing control over eating and weight, episodes of loss of control, use of techniques such as vomiting, fasting, or extreme exercising to manage weight or emotions, or extreme concern about body weight and shape. The clinic s three purposes are to provide specialized services to individuals with specific kinds of eating/weight problems at no/low cost, to permit specialized training in the eating disorder field for advanced graduate students and professionals, and to contribute to current knowledge of eating/weight problems through research. All services are currently available at low to no cost to everyone who is eligible. Eligibility for treatment is based on the nature and severity of the problem, our clinical judgment that the kinds of services we provide are likely to be beneficial, and other factors such as age, available hours, and appropriate staff availability. 13 Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous We are an international fellowship of men and women who have experienced difficulties in life as a result of the way we eat. We joined FA either because we could not control our eating or because we were obsessed with food. We find that we need the fellowship of others who share this problem and this program of recovery to stop abusing food and live a fulfilling life. Through shared experience and mutual support, we help each other to recover from the disease of food addiction.
