You can recover from an eating disorder, and live a healthy and fulfilling life. If you or someone you care about has an eating disorder, Unity Health System s Eating Disorders Program can help. Our proven treatment techniques are based on leadingedge research. ANOREXIA NERVOSA - inability to stay at even the minimum body weight considered normal for a person s age and height, an intense fear of gaining weight, and a distorted perception of one s body. BULIMIA NERVOSA - recurrent episodes of eating large quantities of food followed by efforts to prevent weight gain through vomiting, use of laxatives or diuretics (water pills), excessive exercise, or restriction of calories. BINGE EATING DISORDER - eating large amounts of food without efforts to prevent weight gain, resulting in significant emotional and physical distress.

6 COMPREHENSIVE AND PERSONALIZED SERVICES Unity s Eating Disorders Program is designed to help you understand the biological, behavioral, psychological, and cultural factors that contribute to your eating disorder. You also will learn coping strategies and relaxation techniques to help you overcome selfdefeating thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Our experienced team of therapists, dietitians, case managers, and physicians will work hand in hand with you and your family to determine the treatment that is right for you. We offer: PARTIAL HOSPITALIZATION PROGRAM. We are proud to be the first in the Rochester, NY area to offer a partial hospitalization program for individuals with severe eating disorders. In this program, you come to treatment up to five days per week for up to seven hours per day. Each day you are provided with meals, snacks, and support as you re-learn healthy eating habits. After treatment each day, you stay at home or in a supportive living environment.your family also receives coaching on how to provide meal-time assistance and support. Topics addressed through individual, group, family, and multi-family therapy include: Coping Strategies in Recovery Creative Expression Body Image Issues Goal Setting & Review Relaxation Training & Movement Mindfulness Skills Relational Therapy Parenting for Recovery OUTPATIENT TREATMENT PROGRAM. Our dynamic outpatient treatment includes individual, group, family, and multi-family therapy. Clients come to the program up to three times per week and address topics such as: Coping Strategies in Recovery Emotional Skills Training Relational Therapy Parenting for Recovery Life Coaching

Unity Health System is committed to caring for clients regardless of their ability to pay. We provide a Financial Assistance Program to assist individuals who cannot afford to pay for all or part of their health care services. Financial aid is provided to clients based on each client s income, assets, and needs. Payment plans are also available for those who qualify. CONNECTING WITH OTHER COMMUNITY SERVICES. You can take advantage of a comprehensive range of services and treatment options for eating disorders, thanks to a unique partnership between Unity Health System and other organizations. It s called the Eating Disorders Recovery Center of Western New York.
