2 Dear Perspective Student Thank you for inquiring information about the Nail Technology classes here at Jolei s Hair Institute, (JHI). To become a Nail Tech. you would need to complete 300 clock hours of Nail Technology. After completing 300 clock hours of Nail Technology and meeting all financial obligations, you would be eligible to take the South Carolina State Board Cosmetology Exam. Here at JHI we offer (practical and theory) work which is considered as hands-on and class participation. JHI is dedicated to offer a placement program to all students that have completed the Nail Technician course and has successfully passed his/her SC State Board Examination and has been licensed. 3 Course Description Nail Technology The Purpose of this Nail Technology course is to prepare student for the world of manicuring, pedicuring, and services. As students, they will experience all aspects, and all services dealing with the skills included in the nail technology course. You will be able to succeed as a successful nail technician. The Nail Technology Program which consists of 300 credit hours (for the state requirements for South Carolina) that will assist students learning the fundamentals of all segments that are listed in the Nail Technology course. They will be involved in the theory (classroom studies), and practical (hands on) with other students and also on the clinic floor. As they proceed in the course students will be prepared for the final state board examination.

Mission The glamour of nails, which consists of nail technology, has become a top commodity since the early 90 s. Of course it has been introduced many years. The profession of Nail Technology educates an individual on a professional level to perform nail enhancement and manicuring and pedicuring services and other various aspects to the general public. Therefore an individual must be trained properly with hands on and on a theory level to provide these services correctly and accurately. As providing training and proper education in the trade of nail technology reassures the general public that they are dealing with professionals that has been equipped to consult, and communicate with them on a personal level when providing service. In today s job/career market the general public is looking for individuals that have been trained and educated in all of the fields of nail technology. Offering Nail Technology in this area will accommodate diverse backgrounds. The location has advantages for the youth, adults, and many dislocated workers from various areas that would accommodate all. 5 General Information Jolei s Hair Institute (JHI), makes the trade of nail technology accessible to young adults and adults of diverse backgrounds, and enables them to succeed in their career and the communities. JHI is committed to offering effective learning standards; provide opportunity and supportive learning environment that allows adults of all ages to achieve their professional and personal goals. We believe that all desiring students have a right to higher learning. JHI is committed to serving students that are seeking a professional and business oriented education. We offer part-time studies in the nail technology course. Certificate Programs are designed for individuals seeking skills to enhance their career or to pursue new ones to enter into the job market. Here at JHI we will be teaching the art of nail technology; which consists of many areas. As you may or may not know that nail technology has been serving the public in various areas. The curriculum has met the satisfactory of many businesses for many years and for the future businesses to come. Over the years the public has become more demanding in the areas that nail technology has to offer. The objective of this nail technology training will focus on leadership development, hands-on training, and a creation for minority base training that will lead to goal-oriented self starters in the area. Providing professional training in nail technology will bridge together low-income communities and many other areas with the trends and services that are emerging today. Graduated student Placement Steps in student employment placement *Student must complete 300 credit hours of training and pass a written and practical exam provided by JHI to receive their certificate (which is required prior to preparing for the SC State Board of Cosmetology Exam). *Student must pass JHI final examination required by the state board of cosmetology. *Student must send in proper fees and application for the state board examination. (Written and practical) * JHI will prepare student with all information needed for the state board examination. *Once the student has passed both segments of tests they shall be issued licensed through the SCLLR Department of Cosmetology.

6 *As a commitment to our students JHI has set up a Graduated Student Placement for all students who have completed 300 hours of the nail technology program to assist the student in job employment placing by placing job opportunities on the bulletin board. JHI does not guarantee job placement. *JHI will assist student by posting job opportunities on the bulletin board, but JHI does not guarantee job placement. *If any student has not passed their state board examination after two consecutive times, JHI will continue to assist the student within the advance training program which requires readmission and a new contract for the remaining hours needed for the state board examination. Theory & Practical Performance On a monthly basis the instructor will advise the student on attendance, grades, theory, and practical performance as needed. As required by the state; we here at JHI will do everything to abide and enforce our curriculum to each and every student who is enrolled. No exceptions. 7 Attendance Policy Regular class attendance is important and expected. Students at JHI should maintain a minimum requirement of 80% of the scheduled hours. Students that fall under this percentage will automatically be placed on probation for 30 days. During this period if students fail to meet the requirements they will automatically be withdrawn from the course. Students enrolled in the Nail Technology program that has been withdrawn due to attendance, must reapply and sign a new contract. Students must have logged in 300 hours of practical and theory time to graduate. Should absences be necessary, students are responsible for the material covered during the absences.
