1 Scholarship List November 24, 2015 Dear Senior Parents/Guardians and Students, I know many of you have questions about scholarships. There are many different types of scholarships available. Here is a short description of each. *Some scholarships are available by application only. These scholarships are available in the School Counseling Office on an ongoing basis. Please have your student check weekly for any new scholarships that may have been received. The applications are on file in the School Counseling office. Scholarships are arranged alphabetically. These scholarships are available from many people, groups and organizations. The application criteria will be listed to see if your student can apply. Students should check weekly for new scholarships that are available. * Some scholarships are offered to a student when they apply to a college. This offer will come directly from the college. *There are school specific scholarships. When your student applies to a college or university check their website for scholarship opportunities. * In November of your students Senior year a pool of scholarships becomes available through the Stateline Community Foundation. This foundation has roughly forty local scholarships available. The student has to fill out an application one time, but may choose as many scholarships as they are applicable to apply for. The scholarships are listed at statelinecf.org. This is a very valuable opportunity for our students. There are many scholarships available for technical and four year college/universities. *Parents may check their place of employment to see if there is a scholarship opportunity available. The scholarship process is ongoing in the student s senior year. Many scholarships ask for a personal essay or an essay regarding how they money would be helpful to them. Please make sure to visit to find scholarship that may be open to you! American Business Women s Association Park City Chapter Scholarship- Please see application in file for details. The application, with all attachments requested, shall be sent or hand-delivered to: Janet Fugate, ABWA Education Chair, 2523 Linden Ave, Janesville, WI Applications must be postmarked no later than Friday, January 30, 2015, or handdelivered by 9:00 A.M., Saturday, January 31, Americanism Programs and Scholarships -The Department of the American Legion offers a number of scholarships to assist young people in their pursuit of higher education. There are opportunities for everyone, including relatives of wartime veterans and participants in Legion programs. Please see flier located in scholarship area or visit the scholarship tab at The American Legion Oratorical Scholarship Program is open to all area high school students. Competition begins at a local level and works up through the County, District, Regional, State and eventually National level. Scholarships in the amount of $600 are awarded to 12 participants who make it to the Regional level. Additional scholarships are also available to the top three finishers at the Regional level, and the State finisher will advance to the National level where still more scholarships are awarded. The Oratorical Scholarship Program is A Constitutional Speech Contest designed to challenge students and teach them important leadership qualities, the history of the nation s laws, the ability to think and speak clearly, and an understanding of the duties, responsibilities, rights and privileges of American citizenship. 3 Better Business Bureau Foundation-The Better Business Bureau Foundation will offer four $2,500 scholarships to Wisconsin high school students who have demonstrated character, leadership and ethical values; providing the opportunity to continue their education beyond high school at an accredited college beginning in the fall of In addition, these scholarships are intended to create long-term ties with future Wisconsin business leaders who will promote ethics in the marketplace as the scholarship recipients pursue their careers. Boston University-Trustee Scholarship Competition- Earn a four-year, full tuition scholarship. Engineers Foundation of Wisconsin- SCHOLARSHIPS The Wisconsin Society of Professional Engineers (WSPE) Scholarships are awarded each year to high school seniors having qualifications for success in engineering education. We are pleased to announce that we continue to have seven scholarships available this year. Two of the returning scholarships (each in the amount of $2000) are in the name of Louis C. Geiger, a former WSPE President. Also returning is a total of $2000 in scholarship(s) provided by Yu-Hwa Terry Ni, P.E. through the Funds for the Restoration and Enhancement of the Earth (FREE) Program. The FREE Program is established to encourage and increase involvement activities for restoration and enhancement of the Earth to improve sustainability. The Wisconsin Society of Professional Engineers also has four other scholarships at $1500 each. We will be awarding a total of $12,000 through the 7 scholarships this year. 4 The Foundation of the Wisconsin Automobile & Truck Dealers is pleased to announce that scholarships will be available in 2015 for graduating high school seniors who are pursuing a career in the auto and truck industry. There are of four types of scholarships: Automotive, Diesel, Auto Collision and Motorcycle. Scholarships will be awarded in the spring and summer of 2015 with funding to begin with the 2015 fall semester. 5 The Gates Millenium Scholars Program- The Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) Program selects 1,000 talented students each year to receive a good-through-graduation scholarship to use at any college or university of their choice. The 2015 GMS Online Application is open until the Wednesday, January 14, :59 pm. Who s Eligible? Students are eligible to be considered for a GMS scholarship if they meet all of the following criteria: - Are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian & Pacific Islander American** or Hispanic American - Are a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the United States - Have attained a cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 on an unweighted 4.0 scale or have earned a GED - Will enroll for the first time at a U.S. located, accredited*** college or university (with the exception of students concurrently pursuing a high school diploma) in the fall of 2015 as a full- time, degree- seeking, first- year student. First- time college enrollees can also be GED recipients. - Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular or other activities - Meet the Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria - Have completed and submitted all three required forms: the student's application (Nominee Personal Information Form), an evaluation of the student's academic record (Nominator Form) and an evaluation of the student's community service and leadership activities (Recommender Form) by the deadline

Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship Scholarship Award Through its Education and Leadership Development Program, the Jackie Robinson Foundation provides scholarships of up to $24,000/four years to minority high school students showing leadership potential and demonstrating financial need to attend an accredited 4-year college or university of their choice. Application Components The required components of the Jackie Robinson Foundation application are: The online application, which includes four essay questions; A professional, hi-resolution digital photo (headshots only, in a JPEG format) - you may submit a high school senior graduation photo; One letter of recommendation (e.g. a teacher, a mentor, a guidance counselor, an employer); SAT or ACT scores: If you have taken the SAT or ACT more than once, please enter your best scores from each test. NOTE: JRF does not consider the writing scores as part of your examination. You will need to have a copy of your SAT or ACT scores and your latest high school transcript in order to complete the questions on the online application. Mailing Materials We will not accept the Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship application or supporting documents via mail, or fax. Applicants must be students with a 3.0 or higher cumulative grade point average who are attending or plan to attend a school which offers a one or two year legal secretarial/legal assistant program. Award will be made on the basis of academic record, financial need, and interest in the legal secretarial/legal assistant field. 8 Rock Energy Cooperative will be awarding scholarships to high school seniors who will be continuing their education. Parents/guardian must be a member of Rock Energy Cooperative. Applications are available at This scholarship is due January 12, Rock River Tooling and Machining Association is offering multiple scholarships for students whose course of study is manufacturing technology or manufacturing engineering related major. Tom Joyner Foundation Full-Ride Scholarship The Tom Joyner Foundation announced the Full Ride scholarship program that will cover all the expenses of one student planning to attend a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in the fall of Students will receive full tuition and stipends for up to 10 semesters to cover on-campus room and board and books. Students must meet the required academic standards each semester to renew the funds each year. 9 This award will be made on the basis of scholastic accomplishments, extra-curricular activities, written communication skills and character. Applicants must: 1. Be a resident of the State of Wisconsin. 2. Be enrolled in an accredited high school in Wisconsin. 3. Have completed the first half of the twelfth grade. 4. Show the results of at least one of the College Entrance Examination test scores ACT, SAT, PSAT on the transcript of grades. 5. Matriculate by September, 2015 at an accredited university in the State of Wisconsin with the MLS/CLS/MT curriculum. The following universities offer this major: Carroll University, Waukesha Marquette University, Milwaukee UW-LaCrosse UW-Milwaukee UW-Oshkosh UW-Stevens Point Please note that students who plan on attending a 2 year UW Center for their initial course work before transferring to one of the universities listed above are also eligible, provided their undergraduate application or admission indicates that their intended major is MLS/CLS/MT. 6. Be enrolled in a degree program in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Laboratory Science. 7.
