2 HOW THE CAMP CARD SALE WORKS: The Camp Card is designed to help units fund their way to 2016 Camp programs This is a Risk Free product sales fundraiser where all Scouts can earn their way to Camp, or other activities, to support their unit program or for supply needs Each Camp Card will sell for only $5.00 to the general public and has multiple food, service, and entertainment discounts for the end customer to use throughout the year The participating unit will keep up to 50% commission of the sales for each Camp Card sold Commissions from the sales are encouraged to be applied toward directly sending youth to Summer Camp programs, but they may be used as the unit committee sees fit We re selling camp not just a discount card! Ensure your families understand that they are selling character, they are selling a better community, and they are selling the benefits of Scouting summer camp, and not just selling discount cards. Emphasize that each card sold helps a Scout go to camp. The reason our sale will be successful is that people want to support Scouting. 2

5 2016 Unit Camp Card Chair Job Description Position Concept: Serve as the Unit Camp Card Chair and will be responsible for all aspects of the Camp Card sale. Clearly communicate the sale information to your leaders, parents, and Scouts. 5 Responsible to Unit Committee Ensure your unit is signed-up for the 2016 Camp Card sales by February 24th Be an expert in all Denver Area Council summer camp opportunities Set a challenging sales goal for your unit and youth that pays for the unit s camp and program needs Understand and communicate the impact your unit s participation in summer activities has on retention and advancement for your youth Understand the sale deadlines, unit incentives, youth incentives and how to fill out the paperwork/tracking forms Set up your Unit s Sale Calendar & Schedule Enthusiastically promote the sale to both youth and parents Attend 1 of the 2 Council Camp Card Kick-off s on February 23rd or 6:30 p.m. Plan and conduct your unit s Camp Card Kick-off Reconcile unit account by May 20th. This includes: Collect all money for sold cards and unsold cards not returned Collect all unsold cards Ensure payment & unsold cards are turned in on-time to the Denver Area Council with one check made out to DAC. **Unit will lose $1 commission, if unit fails to reconcile unit account by May 20. Remember, units keep their commission on the front end; 100% of unsold cards must be collected and turned-in with payment; units are responsible for payment of sold cards and any unsold cards not returned.
