2 SGBV Program Community engagement for prevention and referral; service provision for SGBV survivors and the effective use of referrals to meet needs of clients. SGBV Screening Management & referrals done at Service delivery points. Capacity building of services providers and staff. Awareness raising and sensitization sessions with men, women and youth Creating a conducive environment by involvement of community influential (religious scholars, Jirga members, law enforcement agencies including police, magistrates etc). Policy Advocacy through involvement and interaction with decision/policy makers.

7 What has worked.. Mainstreaming SGBV Screening and Management in R- FPAP Service Delivery System. Capacity building of outreach workers and peer educators for first level SGBV screening. Liaison with LHWs enrolled in the government program for identification and referral of SGBV survivors. Capacity building of clinic staff on SGBV screening & management. Provision of psycho-socio support to survivors. Maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of the survivors. Mapping of referral partners, signing of MoU, follow up etc.
8 Capacity building of partners and provision of technical support. Referral slips, reporting and recording of SGBV services. Active member of the UN SGBV working groups at the national and provincial level. Strong linkage with women economic empowerment program. Documentation of Best practices. Policy Advocacy: Interaction of GBV survivors with Parliamentarians/policy makers.

Tools applied for SGBV program SOPs for GBV survivors in Humanitarian settings National Guidelines and Protocols for SGBV- Service Providers SGBV Screening Tool Incident reporting format (translated in local language) as well. Manual developed on SGBV and translated in local language. Training material for staff, partners and law enforcement agencies.
10 Challenges Limited Financial support for legal and social support for SGBV survivors. Security risks to survivors and service providers. Socio-cultural restraints since SGBV is considered a private matter, social pressures. Weak law enforcement and community awareness. Turnover of trained staff.
11 Recommendations Community mobilization and sensitization on SBGV. Availability of free/ subsidized facilities (health and protection) under one roof. Policy advocacy for SGBV facilities and punitive laws. Develop clear pathways. Build referrals and strengthen networking at local and provincial level. Economic empowerment program including Skill development. Strong networking among all partners working on SGBV.
12 One surprising fact we learned was. training of service providers on SGBV and in addressing the health needs of the survivors built the confidence of the survivors to seek health services. We could have done better if we. had integrated more programs on women economic empowerment including skill building with the SGBV program. We need to think more about involving SGBV survivors in planning & implementation of programs.
