Presentation of the Equipment The equipment Ventilation System allows implementing and studying a fan motor supplied by a direct starter or a speed controller. 1.1 Overview The system is composed of an aluminium frame supporting the motor fan, the chimney and the control unit's electric cabinet. This frame is fitted with four swivel casters with brake system allowing the easy displacements of the equipment. A metallic cylinder-shaped chimney with a 200-mm diameter is installed in output of the motor fan. The chimney is equipped with a valve to control the airflow. 3/8

Technical data of the main components Motor fan Assembly comprising a 0.75 kw 230/400 V 3-phase asynchronous motor and a 450 mm Diameter centrifugal fan. Control cabinet It contains: A PM9 unit which manage the measurement display of current, voltage, active and reactive power, total apparent power, total power, total power factor. 4/8

5 Ventilation system A pressure sensor CP 300 equipped with two air pressure probes located in upstream and downstream of the disturbance. Three current transformers for the PM9 measuring unit. For the ALTIVAL 21 version: An ALTIVAR 0.75 kw 400 V speed controller with remote control. For the ALTIVAL 61 version: An ALTIVAR 0.75 kw 400 V speed controller with remote control. 5/8

6 1.3 Main functions The equipment Ventilation System allows to perform exercises on a fan motor supplied by a direct starter or a by speed controller. The speed controller is used to reduce the building operating costs by optimizing the energy consumption while increasing comfort for the users. The assembly handles functions such as the energy saving law, the quadratic law, the energy and operating time counter, the detection of fluid absence and zero flow rate, flow rate limitation, etc. 6/8

7 2. Teaching 2.1 Presentation of teaching The ventilation system allows: Study and implementation of the speed controller ATV21 or ATV61 series. Control of speed controller through Ethernet communication. Motor fan energy consumption comparison between a direct control and a control by speed controller. Approach to the economical data via the software ECO8. Study of the characteristics of centrifugal fan. Measurement and calibration of measuring units.
