1 Practice #1 Create Presentation By AutoContent Wizard This is the easiest and fastest way to create PowerPoint presentation. You are asked to answer to a few questions and then PowerPoint will generated a presentation for you. 1. Start the PowerPoint Application. 2. At the start up window, select AutoContent Wizard item and click OK. 3. A welcome screen will be displayed and followed by a series of questions. The welcome screen. Click Next to continue. Select presentaton type: Different type of presentation has different content (structure) and design (style). You are asked to select a presentation type in this step.

2 Select output options: It will affect how the generated presentation runs. For example, if you select kiosk, the presentation is a selfrun presentation and will rewind to the beginning at the presentation end. Select presentation style: By selecting different presentation style, different slide background or graphics will be used. For example, light background will be used if your presentation is Color Over Head. Input presentation options: The input information will be used in the cover page as title and speaker s name. Final screen: Click Finish to continue.

3 4. A list of slides with text content and graphics are generated. You will see a small slide showing on the right-hand side. It gives you a preview of the slide. In the large window, it shows the slide in Outline view (text information only). Now you can swith to Slide view and edit the text content one by one. End of Practice #1

4 Practice #2 Create Presentation By Template When you use AutoContent Wizard to generate presentation, most of the works like slide background color, font color or bullets are decided by PowerPoint. If you want to have more control on the slides, you can then use Template to create your presentation. 1. Start up the PowerPoint Application. Goto menu File and select New item. In the above window, there are 4 categories of templates : General: Presentation Designs: Presentations: Web Pages: The blank presentation Templates to generate single slide Templates to generate the whole presentation Templates to generate banners for homepage For example, select the Presentation Designs category, then a list of templates will be shown in the list box and there is a small preivew window on the right-hand side to show the Design of the selected template. Click OK to continue.

5 2. Once you decide the slide template, then you have to decdie which latyout you want to use. Different layout contains different slide components. For example, the selected layout contain a title and a text boxes inside the slide. Once you decide the layout, click OK to continue. 3. Finally, the new slide with empty text content is generated. The next thing you have to do is to fill in the the text content by clicking on appropriate text boxes. End of Practice #2

6 Practice #3 Enrich your presentation Using Shadow 1. Open a new slide and input some text content. 2. Use mouse to select the interested text boxes 3. Click "Shadow" button on drawing toolbar 4. Select a shadowing style from the pop-up window shown below. * Please note that the shadow effect will apply to the whole text box. Using Rotation 1. Select a text box 2. Click "Rotation" button on the drawing toolbar. 3. Four control points in green color will be shown on the outter rectangle of the selected text box. Now you can move the mouse cursor to any one of the control point and then press the "left" mouse button to rotate the text box and release the button to end the rotation.

7 Using Clip Arts 1. Go to the "Insert" menu, "Picture" item and then "Clip Arts" item. 2. Then, a collection of clip arts provided by PowerPoint will be shown in the list box. Select the one you want and click "Insert" to continue. 3. Once you insert the clip arts into the slide, you can move it around the slide or resize it.

8 Using Movie 1. Go to menu "Insert", select the "Movies and Sounds" item and then the "Movie from Gallery" 2. The following pop-up window will be shown and a list of movies provided by PowerPoint are listed inside the subwindow. Select your favorite one and click "Insert" to continue.

9 3. After you insert the movie to a slide, the first frame of the movie will be shown on the slide. During the run of the presentation, you can trigger the movie to play by clicking once on the movie. The movie will be stopped if you click "Right" mouse button (go to the next slide). 4. Once you insert the movie into the slide, you can move it around the slide or resize it. Using Slide Transition 1. Goto the "Slide Show" menu and select the "Slide Transition" item. 2. The following window will be shown. You can specifiy the type and the speed of the transition effect. Also you can associate a sound with the slide transition. The preview window allow you to see the effect immediately after you select it.

10 Using Animation Animation can be applied to text, pictures, clip arts or Word Arts objects. 1. Selec the object you're interested ( such as a text box). 2. The following window will be shown and you can select your favirite animation and then click "OK" to continue. A small preview window allow you to see the effect immediately. 3. By default, the animation will be played after you click the "left" mouse button during the run the presentation.

11 Using Graph 1. Click on the short-cut button on the menu bar. 2. A graph and a data editor will be shown on the screen. The data editor looks like the MS Excel which consist of a number of cells. Unlike the MS Excel, you can't put any calculation equation inside each cell. Only raw data can be accepted. 3. Once you enter you data inside the data editor, the graph will be updated automatically after you "close" the data editor window. 4. Once you insert the graph into the slide, you can now move it around or resize it. End of Practice #3
