2 1. Introduction EL390-1 is the proximity keypad reader for access control which is designed to support EM4100 or compatible read-only transponders. Beeper and LED can be host and/or locally controlled. EL390-1 is easy to use as access control door reader via Wiegand, RS232 or RS485 interface communicated with the most controllers on the market. TCP/IP for network version is available as option. It is designed for low cost and high security as well as convenience and reliability. Customized housing, color and interface are available on request. 2. 4 How to connect as controller s Weigand reader Attention: the input voltage for the reader is 9-12VDC Power: VCC(+) connected with the VCC(+) of controller, and GND(-)connected with GND(-)of the controller; Weigand communication: Data1 connected with Weigand input Data1 of controller, Data0 connected with Weigand input of controller; LED control: C_LED connected with LED of the controller(c_led connection is not needed if the controller doesn t have this function), low level effective; Buzzer control: C_BUZZER connected with the alarm of the controller; How to connect as a controller s RS485 reader Attention: the input voltage for the reader is 9-12VDC Power: VCC(+), GND(-)connected with external adapter (9-12VDC) RS485 communication:el390-1 can be connected with the controller supporting RS485 as the controller s reader.el390-1 communication port A port connected with the controller s A communication port, EL390-1 communication port B connected with the controller s B communication port; Have reference to UM-CVCOMM-V301file for RS485 communication How to connect as a controller s RS232 reader Attention: the input voltage for the reader is 9-12VDC Power: VCC(+), GND(-)connected with external adapter (9-12VDC) RS232 communication: EL390-1 can be connected with the controller supporting RS232 as the controller s reader. 5 How to connect with PC Attention: the input voltage for the reader is 9-12VDC Power: VCC(+), GND(-)connected with external adapter (9-12VDC) Communication (1)Via PC serial port: For EL390-1(RS232): TXD(232) connected with TXD of PC serial port, and RXD(232) connected with RXD of PC serial port; For EL390-1(RS485):A and B connected with RS485 port of 232/485 converter, TXD and RXD of 232/485 converter connected with TXD and RXD of respectively; (2)Via TCP/IP network: The external RS232/ TCP/IP converter is needed for the connection via TCP/IP. Configure the TCP/IP converter parameter to make sure that the converter and PC is the same network. RJ45 connected with TCP/IP network, TXD(232) and RXD(232) of the reader connected with the TXD and RXD of the converter

6 5. Weigand output format configuration Weigand 26 is the default factory setting for EL390-1 is Weigand 26. Weigand format can be configured. EL390-1 provide the following Weigand output: Weigand 26 (default), Weigand 32, Weigand 34, Weigand 40, Weigand 42, Weigand 32e, and Weigand is represented by a 50 usec low pulse on DATA1 0 is represented by a 50 usec low pulse on DATA0 2 msec pause between bits Wiegand 26 Bit Output format 26 Bit Wiegand output Left parity bit (MSB) + 3 byte card serial number + right parity bit(lsb) (E.g. Follow below steps to modify Weigand output format: 1. Have reference to 3.5, connect the reader to PC serial port; 2. Open HOSTDEMO of SDK, and select the serial port used, configure the baud rate as bps; 3. Select the Weigand output format you want from Drop-down menu(showed as figure 5), then click Write to Reader button; 4. Power off and re-power the reader to finish the configuration. Figure 1

8 6. Keypadoutput format 4bit format: The data input from keyboard is in BCD encoding. The length of the data output bit is same as the Weigand format, and the data transferred to serial port is BCD code. 9 7. Others EL390-1 LED and Buzzer can connect with control of external signal. If C_LED and C_BUZZER pin connected with low level, LED and Buzzer will conduct external signal control.
