3 CPAP Systems Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) is used to administer fresh gas pressure to the spontaneously breathing patient. By opening more alveolar spaces, CPAP increases the number of functional airways, thereby reducing total resistance.this has been demonstrated in many chronic or acute situations, whether in the post-operative period or in home ventilation. 4 Face Masks & Headgear ur CPAP face masks are double-ported with unidirectional valves to eliminate rebreathing and are fitted with an anti-asphyxia valve. Masks are also equipped with a pressure monitoring port to enable proximal readings. The clear crown ensures easy visibility and low dead space while the anatomically shaped, large volume, inflatable cuff is designed to provide an effective, low pressure seal. Masks are available in 3 sizes; small, large and large deep to fit a wide range of patient profiles thereby ensuring a comfortable, secure seal. ur deluxe headgear is made from a soft, breathable fabric which is designed to remove moisture from the patient s skin thereby reducing the risk of skin erosion. Soft Velcro fastenings allow for easy fitting and adjustment. Headgear designs are also available in latex-free rubber. 5 Clariti PEEP Valves Positive End ory Pressure (PEEP) is used to maintain pressure on the lower airways at the end of the breathing cycle which prevents the alveoli from collapsing during expiration. Clariti s are fixed valves made from a transparent material which enables monitoring of the patient s respiratory rate and blockage assessment while a highly fluorescent valve facilitates observation of valve functionality. 6 Bi-Level Full Face Mask & Headgear ur Bi-Level face mask adjusts perfectly to the patient s face preventing air leakage and the headgear is made from a soft, breathable fabric which encapsulates the entire head without covering the ears. The headgear has also been designed in such a way that it can be easily fitted by one person while emergency release straps allow for quick and easy removal. Accessories Face masks are also supplied with a unique nasal gastric tube adapter which provides a leak-free seal around the nasal gastric tube. Additional ports provide for supplemental oxygen, EtC 2 measurement and/or pressure monitoring. A bulb pump allows for convenient inflation/deflation of the mask when fitting.
