1 Streambox Media Player Instructions for Visions 11 The high- bitrate video stream direct from the R/V Thompson is being made available to a select number of sites. This video signal contains the full 5mbps high definition video stream from the satellite. To view this content requires the Streambox Media Player to view the material that uses their proprietary codec. Please note that you are being given access to a very high bit rate stream. Accessing this stream has a significant impact on our available bandwidth. We urge you to not share these instructions or the player with others. If parties others than those granted access by us open the player concurrently, it will have an adverse impact on our ability to show video. The general public can view the video feed on our website, and you are encouraged to widely share this public link; <<<INSERT FINAL VIDEO PAGE URL HERE>>> Setting up the player to view the stream is relatively straightforward. Mac Instructions Download the Mac version of the Streambox Media Player; <<<INSERT UW HOSTED DOWNLOAD LINK>>> Once downloaded, you can copy the file to your Desktop, Applications folder or other convenient location. There is no setup process to run through the single program file is all you need. To get started, just click on the program icon; The first thing you will need to do is configure the program to look at the Visions 11 Broadcast Server. From the Settings menu, select Configure Channel #1. (Or press CTRL+1.) Then enter these settings;

2 Channel Name: This can be any name you chose. A name is not required. Select Connect to Server IP Address: Port: 1770 You can leave the remainder blank and select OK. Now you will be at the main window, but you must load the new channel settings by clicking the Channel 1 button at the bottom left of the window; When the Media Player first connects to the stream, it will display partial video until it receives the first full frame of data transmitted; Within seconds the video snap to full quality. Information at the screen will be displayed at the bottom of the window;

3 You can view the video full screen by selecting View Full screen, or by pressing CMD+F; You can leave full screen mode at any time by pressing the ESC key. Stream Availability The video stream is coming from a research vessel that is underway in the North Pacific. We are operating in an area that is at the very edge of the satellite footprint. There are numerous factors that can interrupt the signal. In addition, we may elect to stop the transmission at times to transfer large files from the vessel to shore. Sending live high- definition video from the sea floor is no small task to accomplish. We are happy that we can provide you an opportunity to share in this cruise by viewing this video stream.
