1 BRIEF INFORMATION L 5570 Bi-LED Module nd generation PRODUCT FEATURES A low beam and high beam are combined in the nd generation Bi-LED Module, an impressive product due to its sophisticated lighting /electronics. The non-patterned 55 x 70 mm polycarbonate lens projects the light from the reflector systematically in the required direction. The module has a hardened plastic cover lens, has no moving parts and is passively cooled. It comes with an FEP or and as an ECE or SAE version. The product has an integrated function output for the failure monitor. Product is licensed according to the ECE guideline. Product is licensed according to the SAE guideline. Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) tested and EU type approval issued. Product electronics are developed using the latest methods and according to the ISO 66 safety guidelines. 3 DESCRIPTION OF "FUNCTION OUTPUT" According to ECE-R8 series 05 section 6..8, malfunction monitoring of LED headlamps is mandatory. Faults must be displayed so they are recognisable by the driver. According to the following ECE-R8 series 06, fault detection can be omitted but only if all LEDs in one module are connected in series and go out at the same time if a fault occurs. The HELLA LED L 5570 Modules make use of this exception. This is why malfunction monitoring is not required for this module if the vehicle has been homologised according to the new series 06. If the vehicle has been homologised further according to the old ECE-R8 series 05, the vehicle electronics can perform the malfunction monitoring by making corresponding current measurements. Vehicle electronics that are unable to carry out this kind of current measurement can carry out the monitoring via the integrated function output of the HELLA module.
