1 S&C Switch Operators Type PM Outdoor Distribution For Field Retrofit on Manual PMH, PMS, and PME Pad-Mounted Gear SPECIFICATIONS Conditions of Sale STANDARD: Seller s standard conditions of sale set forth in Price Sheet 150 apply. SPECIAL TO THIS PRODUCT: INCLUSIONS: S&C Type PM Switch Operators are available for field retrofit on S&C Manual PMH, PMS, and PME Pad-Mounted Gear. When so installed, Type PM Switch Operators permit power operation of the associated Mini- Rupter Switch in response to an opening or closing signal from a remote location or locally by means of push buttons. These switch operators thereby make it possible to convert from manual operation to power operation, facilitating the development of a fully automated and remotely operated underground distribution system. Type PM Switch Operators listed in the table on page 3 include the following features as standard: An integral motor for power operating the quick-make quick-break mechanism of the Mini-Rupter Switch. Switch operation is achieved in approximately 3 seconds with nominal control voltage. Open-close push buttons for local electrical operation and provisions for local manual operation. Local/remote selector switch which, in the LOCAL position, prevents remote operation while permitting local mechanical and push button operation and, in the REMOTE position, prevents local push button operation while permitting remote operation. A contact is provided to permit remote indication of selector switch position. Auxiliary switches for remote indication of open and closed switch positions. Decoupler to permit operation of switch operator without affecting the position of the switch. Operation counter. An enclosure of heavy gauge steel and a door equipped with the S&C Penta-Latch Mechanism. The door opening is fully gasketed and ventilation openings include filters with backing plates. Storage bracket in switch operator enclosure for holding manual operating handle (furnished with the padmounted gear). Handle permits local manual charging and tripping of the quick-make quick-break mechanism in the event control power is not available. A template for locating mounting holes and hardware for attaching a Type PM Switch Operator to the padmounted gear enclosure. One switch operator on each unit of pad-mounted gear being retrofitted must be equipped to supply control power to all switch operators on that unit. The control power can be derived from a user-supplied 24-volt dc power source, or optionally an S&C Battery Charger with battery packs (suffix -Y6, -Y7, or -Y8 ) can be installed in one of the switch operators on each unit of pad-mounted gear. The optional battery charger requires a 120-volt ac input which is provided either from an external user-supplied power source (suffix -Y6 ) or from an S&C-supplied internal power source (suffix -Y7 or -Y8 ). The internal power source is available only for PMH and PMS models. Alternately, the control power can be derived directly from a user-supplied 120-volt ac power source through the optional ac power supply (suffix -Y5 ). Refer to OPTIONAL FEATURES on page 3. The number of switch operators to use depends on the number of switches to be power operated on the specific unit of pad-mounted gear; refer to How to Order on page 2. Low-voltage compartments for user-supplied and installed RTU, transceiver, etc. are available as a separate item. Refer to LOW-VOLTAGE COMPARTMENTS table on page 5. For availability of remote terminal units (RTUs) and communication devices in the low-voltage compartment, refer to the nearest S&C Sales Office. For PMH models only, wiring to connect each switch operator to a low-voltage compartment (appropriately mounted on the pad-mounted gear) is available as a separate item. Refer to the INTERCONNECTING-CONTROL- WIRING BASE SPACERS table and WIRING HAR NESSES table on pages 4 and 5. Alternatively, for all models the wiring can be provided by the user, see ACCESSORIES on page 6. Switch operator enclosures, low-voltage compartments, and interconnecting-control-wiring base spacers are protected from corrosion by S&C s olive-green Ultradur Finishing System. 2 S&C Switch Operators Type PM Outdoor Distribution For Field Retrofit on Manual PMH, PMS, and PME Pad-Mounted Gear Conditions of Sale Continued APPLICATION NOTES: The interconnecting-controlwiring base spacers are 6 inches high, compartmented, and through specification of one of the suffixes listed in the WIRING HARNESSES table they are equipped with all the necessary low-voltage wiring to intercon nect each appropriately mounted Type PM Switch Oper ator with a suitable and appropriately mounted low-voltage compartment. The switch operator that is equipped to supply power to all other switch operators on the pad-mounted gear must be mounted adjacent to Compartment 1 on PMH-3 and PMH-5 Models, or on Compartment 2 of all other models. The low-voltage compartment must be mounted adjacent to Compartment 2 on PMH-3 and PMH-5 Models, or Compartment 3 for all other models. On Models where all four switches are to be power operated, the base spacer pro vides for positioning of all interconnecting control wiring in the switch operator that is on Compartment 3. The interconnecting-control-wiring base spacers shield all low-voltage wiring from medium voltage. These control-wiring base spacers can be connected to installed manually operated PMH models only under one of the following conditions: (1) there is adequate installed cable to compensate for the 6-inch increase in height when the control-wiring spacer is installed, (2) suitable cable splices are made, (3) the installed unit includes an optional 6-inch base spacer (suffix -K1, -K7, -K11, or -K17 ) that is removed before installing the interconnect ingcontrol-wiring base spacer, or (4) the installed unit includes an optional 12-inch or greater height base spacer (suffix -K2 through -K4, -K8 through -K10, -K12 through -K14, or -K18 through -K20 ) and that installed spacer is removed and replaced by a spacer 6 inches lower in height. Low-voltage compartments are equipped for field installation of user-supplied and installed RTU, transceiver, and transducers, etc. Power for any user-supplied equipment in the low-voltage compartment must be provided from a user-supplied control-power source. Provisions are provided at the bottom of the enclosure for entry of low-voltage wiring. How to Order 1. Switch Operators for Field Retrofit a.
