For the Erasmus University I work as a consultant / project manager for the Erasmus Electronic Publishing Initiative (EEPI). I consult, co-ordinate and manage different projects and developments leading to a University which operates more and more as an active publisher of research knowledge. Tasks under my responsibility at the Erasmus University are: - Co-ordination of development and implementation of several different (open source) software projects. - Project management of the Electronic Learning Journal (ELJ) project - ICT-Consultancy for other projects like HARVEX - Acting as representative of the University at nationwide consultative bodies e.g. within DARE. - Project- and ICT-consultancy at faculties and institutes within the university, especially for the Erasmus Research Institute of Management (ERIM), a well known research institute of the Rotterdam School of Management and the Rotterdam School of Economics. For NetAdapt, my own company, my activities concentrate around the selling of a selfmade product the NetAdapt Photo Database, consultancy on the area of Electronic Publishing and the archiving of digital materials at organizations other than the Erasmus University, support of running project and the management/development of smaller new projects.

2 Employer Erasmus University Rotterdam University Library Erasmus Research Institute of Management (ERIM) Job Title Project & ICT Consultant Project Manager Period April 2002 now Description At the Erasmus University I work within the context of the Erasmus Electronic Publishing Initiative (EEPI), a project which aims to transform the university from a passive supplier of articles to publishers to an active academic knowledge distributor. My main responsibilities at the Erasmus University are: - Development and implementation of E-Publishing systems of which DSpace acts as the data-provider ( as a source for multiple service providers (e.g Leading project manager of the Electronic Learning Journal (ELJ) project - Consultancy and project co-ordination of several projects related to EEPI and the national initiative Digital Academic Repositories (DARE), driven by SURF. - Representative of the Erasmus University at nationwide consultative bodies mainly in the context of DARE - ICT Consultancy for different institutes within the university and especially ERIM, most of the times EEPI related, but sometimes not. Technical specifications: During my work at the Erasmus University I ve been working with the following technical environments: - The ELJ project aims interchange data between Institutional Repositories (like DSpace and ARNO) and different Learning Environments, like Blackboard, WebCT, the LCMS Harvestroad HIVE and several open source learning applications. Main development is done within J2EE. Database connectivity is realized for the open source database PostgreSQL as well as Oracle. - DSpace ( PostgreSQL, JSP/Java Servlets, Tomcat connected to Apache using mod_webapp first and mod_jk2 later, Operating Systems: RedHat 9 and Enterprise, FreeBSD for the testing server. OAI-PMH compliant service and data provider. - ARNO: Perl-application, hosted on a RedHat 9 server (now being upgraded to Enterprise) with Oracle db (9). OAI-PMH compliant data provider. - Erasmus PhD Series, OAI-compliant service based on the ZOPE-platform, which is a Python based CMS platform, running on Solaris.OAI-PMH compliant service. - ERIM CMS: MMBase-based content management system (Java: JSP & Servlets, hosted currently on Tomcat, using Oracle db (10g)) - ERIM E-Publications website presentation: Java: JSP & Servlets, originally developed on JBoss, then deployed on Tomcat and now being transferred to Oracle Internet Application Server 10g, which uses an application server very similar to Orion. OAI-PMH compliant service. - ERIM PhD- & Master Application, originally developed in PHP/MySQL, second version under construction developed in Java JSP/Servlets deployed on OIAS 10g and hosted on RedHat Enterprise. - The ancient E-Publishing system of the EUR WebDOC, used especially to export the

3 Employer NetAdapt Job Freelance Period August now Werkzaamheden NetAdapt started out as a company of two, Merlijn Hoek and me, Jasper van den Bosch. Later my partner stepped out and I continued the company alone on a part-time basis. NetAdapt specializes in ICT-consultancy and project management. NetAdapt operates both as project development bureau within a network of smaller companies and freelancers and independently as a consultancy firm. Next to that NetAdapt provides hosting services, usage of web based applications on the basis of periodic payment, the development and/or implementation of web applications such as project management tools and content management systems.
