2 SCOTLAND GOLF TOUR EAST COAST GOLF TOUR STANDARD ITINERARY 2016 Day 1 Depart USA for Edinburgh. Day 2 Upon your arrival in Edinburgh, if you are driving yourself you will be met by a SGH Golf representative, who will assist you with your luggage and present you with your travel guide, before showing you to your waiting rental car. If you are being escorted you will be met by your SGH Golf tour manager driver, who will assist you with your luggage and show you to your waiting motor coach. You will then transfer to the Golf Inn Hotel in Guallne where you will have the rest of the day to unpack and rest. The Golf Inn Hotel has recently been taken over and as a result has received a new lease of life. One of the owners is also the Chef and the Golf Inn is now one of the best places to eat in the area. The rooms are comfortable and the service is very friendly. Only a short walk from the golf course this cheery hotel could not be better located. Drive time from Edinburgh to Gullane is approx 45 minutes. Overnight at the Golf Inn Hotel Day 3 Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at Gullane #1 Course. Gullane Golf Club was founded in The golf courses here, of which there are three, are linked as one. It offers championship quality links courses with dramatic views across the Firth of Forth to Edinburgh and Fife. The 3rd hole was recently voted one of the top 500 holes in the world by Golf Magazine (USA). The world famous view from the highest point of the Course on the 7th tee across the course and over to Edinburgh, Fife, and way beyond, is worth the green fee alone. With every hole having its own distinct character, the course is both memorable and enjoyable.

After golf you may wish to tour Seabird Center The Scottish Seabird Centre is situated at North Berwick harbour, East Lothian, with stunning views across the Firth of Forth and the iconic Bass Rock. There s something for the whole family, come rain or shine.a warm welcome awaits: browse our gift shop and enjoy the very best local produce in the Seabird Café. Entrance to this part of the Centre is free.pay your admission in advance or on the day and embark on your own interactive wildlife adventure in the five star Discovery Centre. Here you can use interactive live cameras on the Firth of Forth islands to zoom in on the wildlife action - this means incredible live close-ups without any disturbance to the wildlife. Enjoy seeing them in their natural habitat. Overnight at Golf Inn Hotel Day 4 Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at Muirfield Golf Club. Handicap Limit Men: 18, Ladies: 20. Muirfield is the home of the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers and is the most exclusive golf club in the U.K. Founded in 1744, the existing course is designed in two loops of nine holes. Players have a constantly changing battle with the wind, and the beautifully constructed bunkers (over 150 in total), which never allow a bad shot to escape, are a great feature of the course. After golf you may wish to tour the City of Edinburgh before transferring to Ardgowan Hotel in St. Andrews. The City of Edinburgh is broken up into two main sections, Old Town and New Town. The Old Town has managed to preserve the original medieval plan of the city, and many Reformation era buildings. This section of the city houses the castle, St Giles Cathedral and the Law Courts. The New Town was created in the 18 th century because of the need to expand the size of the city. This section of the city was designed by James Craig, and was created with a rigid grid like pattern. The city is known for the Edinburgh Festival which began in 1947 and runs every year from the end of July to early September. As can be expected in any large city there is a large market for shopping. Shopping in Edinburgh includes a wide variety of shops, ranging from up market department stores (such as Boots and H&M) to smaller individually owned souvenir shops. The addition of St. James Centre to the city has allowed the shopping market to expand including brands such as Louis Vuitton, Emporio Armani, Mulberry and Harvey Nichols. The Ardgowan Hotel, St Andrews, is located near the Old Course and St Andrews university in the center of St Andrews. Comprising of two adjoining Georgian Houses the architectural note was designed by the famous Scottish Architect Sir William Playfair. The hotel is set back within picturesque gardens, offering nineteen comfortable ensuite bedrooms, lounge bar and restaurant serving a wide variety of freshly prepared food using top quality local suppliers.

4 Day 4 Continued.. Drive time from Gullane to Muirfield is approx 15 minutes. Drive time from Muirfield to Edinburgh is approx 45 minutes. Drive time from Edinburgh to St. Andrews is approx 1 hour and 30 minutes. Overnight at the Ardgowan Hotel Day 5 Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at Kingsbarns Golf Club. Located directly on the North Sea coast only six miles from St. Andrews, Kingsbarns is without a doubt one of the most breathtaking links courses ever developed. Kingsbarns Golf Links is a real one of a kind and a contrast with Scotland s other famous links courses in that it is a new, man-made development. The sea figures prominently on every hole and one's senses are continually pricked with the sights, sounds and smells of the ocean spray. The links boasts spacious fairways, which roll and twist through majestic dune ridges and hollows, while its large inviting greens present the golfer with subtle challenges. After golf you may wish to tour Falkland Palace Falkland Palace is the former royal palace of the Scottish Kings. The palace was acquired by the Scottish Crown from MacDuff of Fife in the 14 th century. King James IV and King James V transformed the castle into a royal palace between 1501 and The palace thereafter served as a popular retreat for the royal family. In the 1950s the palace was appointed to the National Trust of Scotland and was opened to the public. The palace is surrounded by beautiful extensive gardens that are in and of themselves worth visiting. Drive time from St. Andrews to Kingsbarns is approx 15 minutes. Overnight at the Ardgowan Day 6 Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at Carnoustie Golf Links. Regarded by many including Walter Hagen and Gary Player, as one of the best links courses in the world, Carnoustie, though certainly long, is not a course for the unthinking big-hitter. With judgment of wind and distance critical, every tee shot needs careful placement to set up an approach to the green. Whilst there may be little dramatic background scenery, the beauty of Carnoustie is to be found in the golf course itself. The layout is such that no two consecutive holes face the same direction, a factor that does nothing for the golfer in finding their rhythm in the face of often-stiff winds. Carnoustie's famous burns that snake their way around the course - Jockie's Burn and the Barry Burn, represent two more obstacles to posting a respectable tally.

5 Day 6 After golf you may wish to tour Glamis Castle Glamis Castle is located next to the village of Glamis and is home to the Earl and Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne. The castle was the childhood home of Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, also known as the Queen Mother. The interior of the castle is beautifully preserved and should be visited by anyone interested in historical architecture. Drive time from St. Andrews to Carnoustie is approx 45 minutes. Overnight at the Ardgowan Hotel Day 7 Today after breakfast golf will be arranged on the St. Andrews Old Course. After golf you may wish to tour the Town of St. Andrews. Handicap Limit Men: 24, Ladies: 36. The oldest golf course in the world has many remarkable features which help make it so special to golfers around the world. It is the Home of Golf where golf was first played 600 years ago and yet it remains a real test of golf for today's champions. Despite its reputation and status, it is a public course. The course is known for its particular physical features including 112 bunkers, some of which are especially famous e.g. 'Hell' on the long 14th, 'Strath' on the short 11th and the Road Bunker at what is probably the most famous golf hole in the world, the 17th or Road Hole (so called because a road - which is in play - runs hard against the back edge of the green). The Old Course s truly remarkable feature is that in today's modern golfing world, a course which has evolved over six centuries remains a true test of championship golf. St. Andrews is known worldwide as the home of golf, primarily because it is the home to the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, founded in The city was first settled during the Mesolithic era, shortly followed by the nomadic people who settled the modern town around 4,500 BC. The present town was established in 1140 by Bishop Robert and it began to develop economic and political power. However, the town fell into decay after the Scottish Reformation and the English Civil War and it wasn t until the 19 th century and the introduction of the golf industry that St. Andrews turned around. Although it is most notable for its golf, St. Andrews also boasts a world renowned university, The University of St. Andrews, which provides the city with an added educational culture.
