2 Mission & Impact Statements Mission Williamson Christian College creates a rigorous academic environment to equip and empower graduates to be on mission in the world for Christ. Background 1. In 1996, the College was incorporated with the Secretary of State of the State of Tennessee. Application was made for college status with the Tennessee Higher Education Commission; approval was given in April The original approval for the College was for the baccalaureate degree to be granted in two majors: Management & Ethics and Leadership & Ministry. In April 2003 THEC approved a new major in Music and Worship Leadership. In May 2003, THEC approved the granting of the Bachelor of Science degree in Management and Ethics, Leadership and Ministry, and in Music and Worship Leadership. The College offers general education courses and two majors online. 2. The College enrolled its first students in credit and noncredit courses in the fall of On August 13, 2000, Williamson Christian College had its first Baccalaureate and Commencement ceremony. The College began with a strong orientation to provide both onsite and online access to its constituencies. 3. During the year 2000, Williamson Christian College obtained Candidate Status in accreditation with the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS) as well as Applicant Status with the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE). Accreditation by TRACS was effective March 20, 2002, and Candidate Status with ABHE was approved in February Accreditation by ABHE was effective February 21, Accreditation reaffirmation of 10 years was granted by TRACS in April The College s curriculum is designed to meet the educational needs of working adults. The collaborative learning format allows students to identify the leadership issues of their communities and propose solutions for them from a faith based perspective. This encourages the integration of their faith and their learning with their leadership. This approach enhances the leadership roles of students who have assumed leadership responsibilities before they enroll at the College and it encourages students to assume leadership roles upon graduation if they have not already done so. 5. The College has offices, classrooms and library services at its main campus on Seaboard Lane in the Cool Springs area of Franklin. The College also has a teaching site at The People s Church of Franklin. 6. In July 2009, the investiture of our second President, Stephen Higgins, took place. Impact As a Christian College, Williamson CC will provide its students with a distinctively engaging academic environment, characterized by excellence in its Christ centered foundation, liberal arts non-traditional form, professional schools of leadership, interdisciplinary practical studies and graduate programs. Other ways to donate, support, or volunteer Williamson College (WC) creates a rigorous academic environment to equip and empower graduates to be on mission in the world for Christ. We offer undergraduate students the Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Managerial Leadership, Ministry Leadership, and Worship Studies and graduate students the Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership degree. All degrees thoroughly integrate faith and learning from an evangelical and conservative Christian worldview and focus on God s call on each student s life. We seek to have a diversity of learners with different life experiences. WC is accredited by the Association of Biblical Higher Education (ABHE) which allows students to receive Federal Title IV Pell Grants and student loans. We believe that our students should not be burdened with massive and discouraging student-loan debt. Thus, our operating costs per credit hour are below all local colleges and universities, except for one. Financial statements are audited by Blankenship CPA Group. Williamson College is a member in good standing with The Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (EFCA). Service Categories Primary Organization Category Education / Undergraduate Colleges Secondary Organization Category Religion- Related / Christianity Areas of Service Areas Served TN - Davidson TN - Dickson TN - Maury TN - Montgomery TN - Rutherford TN - Williamson CEO Statement At Williamson Christian College, we believe the Holy Scriptures to be ultimate and timeless truth, "Godbreathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness" (II Timothy 3:16). These same scriptures can be central in knowing how to THINK differently as well as act differently. One often begets the other. Our world desperately needs fresh thinking and acting to resolve some of the most staggering problems ever encountered. Perhaps you are longing to invest your life in ways that make a lasting difference in your community and world. In fact, we believe God has wired us to do just that. As Dallas Willard says, "Unlike egoism, the drive to significance is a simple extension of the creative impulse of God that gave us being...we were built to count, as water is made it run downhill. We are placed in a specific context to count in ways no one else does. That is our destiny. Our hunger for significance is a signal of who we are and why we are here." 3

4 WCC faculty, staff, and trustees are committed to assist every student in discovering their God-given call, whether that is lived out as a school teacher, a physician, auto mechanic, stay-at-home mom or dad, business owner, volunteer community leader, pastor, or countless other roles. We believe God has called us all to be on mission--that "as we go" we are being used by God for His redemptive purposes. How exciting! By God's grace, you CAN make a difference. We invite you to Williamson Christian College. Small classes, personalized attention, and a caring community awaits you. With 15 nations represented in our student body, a cross-cultural experience is in store for you. Attending class one night a week, you can begin or complete your degree without interfering with your daily work routine. We have 9 different start dates for classes each year. So, give us a call at One of our caring advisors is waiting to get to know you. We hope to see you soon! Sincerely- Dr. Ed Smith 4

5 Programs Programs Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration Description The curriculum is intended to provide Christian people with a background for making decisions, both in their personal lives and in their professional lives. There is a strong emphasis on using an ethical framework in making personal and professional decisions. Christian concepts will be foundational to the program and the overall experience of the students in the program. A Chrisitan worldview will provide a deeper understanding of the opportunities and challenges in management and ethcis areas. Budget Population Served Adults,, Bachelor of Science Degree in Ministry Leadership Description The Leadership and Ministry program is intended to provide students with skills and a background in leadership and how it should be applied in a ministry or other Christian situations. Ministry is defined broadly to refer to any situation in which Christians are worshipping, evangelizing, serving or studying aspects of the Christian faith. Leadership and ministry will be presented in the broad context of human knowledge and experience. As a result, both secular and Christian sources will be studied along with case studies and examples of leadership historically and currently in our society. A Christian worldview will provide a deeper understanding of the opportunities and challenges in leadership and mnistry areas. Budget Population Served Adults,, Bachelor of Science Degree in Worship Studies Description The course work utilizes a basic and practical approach to a career in worship and music. Students will take advantage of the rich local resources to study with leaders in Christian music who are involved with organizations within Williamson County and neighboring Nashville. The faculty members have extensive experience in Christian music involving worship programs, writing, arranging and conducting performance. Budget Population Served Adults,, 5

6 Associate Degree in Leadership Description The Associate Degree in Leadership is designed for the student who either wants only the Associate Degree or wishes to earn this degree on the way toward completing the Bachelor of Science degree. The major will provide the student with the skills, attitudes and perspective needed for leadership with a Christian worldview. Budget Category Education Postsecondary Education Population Served Adults,, Bachelor of Science Degree in NonProfit Managerial Leadership Description The Nonprofit Managerial Leadership Bachelors major is intended to provide a comprehensive program that will equip anyone to be effective in a managerial leadership role within the non-profit world. Entry into a nonprofit managerial leadership career can come early in professional life or may be part of the growing trend of older professionals who make the move from corporate life, taking their solid business expertise to a more altruistic path in their remaining work years. Today s global community faces intractable problems that demands leaders who can think biblically and analytically in order to bless the world. Human contact, intuition, and compassion are not duties that a computer can replicate. Graduates can choose to work in education, with religious groups, charities, civic leagues, social and animal welfare, or local employee organizations. A degree in nonprofit managerial leadership is excellent preparation for someone who wants to start his/her own organization. Population Served,, 6
