1 Program Coordinator, Clinical Mental Health Counseling Montreat College, Montreat, NC Position Activities Montreat College is currently seeking to fill a part-time (20 hours per week) Program Coordinator position for the newly added Master of Arts degree program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling within the School of Professional and Adult Studies. The position will move to full-time, tenure-track status (10 month contract) upon the establishment of a significant enrollment base and multiple cohorts. As part-time Program Coordinator, this individual will: Curriculum Development Coordinate the development of syllabi for courses that will be offered in the degree program, making sure that the learning outcomes align with the Montreat College mission and vision as well as align with CACREP (Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs) requirements. Collaborate with appropriate campus departments to explore offering hybrid and online course formats. Explore possibilities for developing continuing education courses out of the program curriculum or as an extension of program curriculum. Program Development Create and write the program handbook for students. This document will include admissions procedures, curriculum guides, expectations of students, practicum and internship guidelines, and all other program critical materials for student success in the program. Work with current Admissions representatives to develop program application and admissions procedures (including admissions interviews). Assist in training Admissions representatives about the program, requirements, expectations, and accreditation in order to improve program recruitment efforts. Develop New Student Orientation. Educate Montreat College faculty and staff about counselor education programs, career opportunities for students/graduates, accreditation, and internship requirements in order to support the overall success of the program. Network with local colleges, businesses, and agencies to develop clinical internship opportunities for students. Establish program assessment criteria and evaluation programs.

2 Service Serve on college committees as assigned and participate in program and college strategic planning and governance. Engage in other service activities at the program, department, college, and university levels. Upon moving to full-time status, the Program Coordinator will: Curriculum Development Continue exploring possibilities for developing continuing education courses out of the program curriculum or as an extension of program curriculum and offer such courses on a regular basis. Recruitment and Program Development Work with current Admissions representatives to market and promote the program to local colleges, businesses, and agencies to recruit students for the program. The first cohort start date is proposed for Spring Network with local colleges, businesses, and agencies to develop clinical internship opportunities for students. Collaborate with the current Admissions staff to manage applications, conduct admissions interviews, and make admissions decisions. Continue to align the program curriculum with CACREP standards and conduct program self-study in preparation for applying for accreditation and site visits. Upon selection of the first cohort, implement New Student Orientation prior to the first night of class. Establish program assessment criteria and evaluation programs. Collaborate with SPAS Faculty Services Coordinator and the Senior Vice President and Provost for Academic Affairs to recruit, interview, hire, and train new adjunct and full time program faculty. Recruit, interview, hire, and train a Program Graduate Assistant (GA). Teaching and Supervision Teach a variety of core and specialized counseling courses to prepare students for clinical program components. Integrate instructional technologies into teaching. Provide clinical supervision of students in practicum and internship programs. Provide supervision training and support to on-site supervisors providing clinical internship sites for program students. Provide training and supervision of new full time and adjunct faculty. Direct student independent research.

3 Advising and Mentoring Collaborate with SPAS Academic Advisors to ensure that students are following the program curriculum and assist in proper class placement when transferring credits from other graduate programs. Provide career advising and mentoring to students throughout their program regarding professional development, involvement in professional associations, and career specialties. Provide mentoring to new full time and adjunct faculty. Qualifications The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate (PhD or PsyD) in the field of Counseling Psychology. In addition, the successful candidate will provide evidence of effective teaching and supervision, and a commitment to using emerging technology in teaching, research, and service. The candidate will hold appropriate professional memberships (including membership in the American Counseling Association and Association for Counselor Education and Supervision), and will also have a professional identity as a counselor/counselor educator. The candidate will demonstrate proven scholarly research, publication, and scholarly presentation, or the potential to establish such a record. Candidates should hold a North Carolina counseling license such as Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or be eligible for and willing to pursue licensure. A profession of Christian faith and a commitment to the mission, values, and faith statement of Montreat College is required. Candidates for the position of Program Coordinator should also have experience in college admissions and recruitment, academic and career advising and mentoring, program planning and implementation, and leading others in achieving common program goals. Counseling experience in community, agency, school, and/or college settings is also required. The ability to work collegially and collaboratively with program and college faculty, as a team member is also highly desired, as is an attitude of being student-oriented. About the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program The mission of the Counselor Education program will be to train students in the foundations of human development, counseling, and human behavior within both secular and Christian worldviews, and to guide them in developing a personal theory of counseling for professional practice in a variety of settings. The Counselor Education program will provide a foundation for students to engage in reflective practice as professionals and life-long learners, to be active global citizens, and to be advocates for social justice. The Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling will educate students in the history and development of counseling as a profession, theories of counseling, ethical practices of counseling, competencies in working with multicultural and diverse groups, and strategies for working with individuals across the lifespan in everyday developmental, behavioral, psychological, social, emotional, and career challenges as well as in times of crisis.
