University of California, Los Angeles: Chemistry & Biochemistry The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at UCLA has a tradition of excellence in research and is ranked among the highest in the country. The department offers two PhD programs: Chemistry and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Physical Sciences University of California, Los Angeles: Luskin School of Public Affairs, Social Welfare The UCLA Department of Social Welfare offers a full-time, two-year professional masters program leading to an MSW degree that combines academic coursework with practical fieldwork experience in welfare, health, gerontological, educational, mental health, legal, and other social work agencies, both public and private. Every year, the department admits approximately 100 students to the program. The MSW program recruits students from groups that historically have not participated in university education because of age, socioeconomic background, disability, geography, or discrimination. 6 California Northstate University: College of Pharmacy California Northstate University College of Pharmacy (CNUCOP) is a new pharmacy college dedicated to educating, developing, and training individuals to provide competent, patient-centered care. CNUCOP offers a progressive educational program that emphasizes active learning, direct patient care experiences, and the role of research in advancing the profession of pharmacy. Pharmacy & Pharmacology California School of Podiatric Medicine The California School of Podiatric Medicine (CSPM) was founded in 1914 as the California School of Chiropody. The Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree consists of a comprehensive curriculum in basic medical and clinical sciences. Didactic course work is completed during the first three years of the program. CSPM is known for its early clinical education. Second year students begin to participate in clinical rotations, which cover mechanical orthopedics, radiology, general and primary podiatric medicine. The third and fourth year are devoted to clinical rotations hospital facilities, community practice clerkships, and outside clerkships in the Bay Area and throughout the U.S. All accepted students are considered for renewable entering scholarships based on both overall GPA and MCAT scores. Entering scholarships range from $10,000-$20,000.
