2 Olivier Verborgt Congress President WELCOME Dear colleagues and friends, In 2016 the Orthopaedica Belgica Congress will focus on current concepts in arthroplasty. Together with our scientific committee we will provide a program of high scientific quality that is strongly supported by the national subgroups of hip, knee, foot and ankle, shoulder and elbow and hand. Re-live surgeries and instructional course lectures with international and national experts as well as plenary sessions focused on imaging, the infected joint and quality & registries are included. The combination of theoretical and practical elements providing plenty of space for exciting dialogs and discussions will result in a detailed overview of the current concepts in joint replacement. What s new this year is that the BOTRA will be actively involved and organise a symposium on specific challenges residents and young surgeons are facing regarding arthroplasty where interaction between young talent and experienced surgeons will be highly stimulated. Besides the yearly contribution of the nursing program, physiotherapists will now also actively participate and debate in an interactive session together with surgeons on how the rehab of a total joint should or should not be done. A must see event in this year s edition! The congress will take place in the Casino in Knokke guaranteeing professionalism in a relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of hotelrooms are reserved for housing nearby the congres venue during the entire meeting.
