3 Mental Health Support Groups Chicago Hearing Voices was formed by a group of local voice hearers, service users/consumers, family members, clinicians and researchers interested in promoting the hearing voices movement in urban and suburban Chicago. In addition to organizing events and workshops we hope to facilitate the development of local hearing voices groups and provide additional resources and ongoing support. Although the name "hearing voices" might imply an exclusive focus on voice hearing, we aim to fully include other experiences often labeled psychotic, including unusual thoughts & feelings and unusual experiences involving other senses (vision, touch, smell, and taste). In line with the international hearing voices movement, our emphasis is on approaching such experiences as intrinsically meaningful and often connected to individuals' life events and histories.
