2 The Gun's & Ammo Tracker From DERISCO Enterprises The Gun s & Ammo Tracker, is designed to be a total software solution for all your shooting sports and gun collection needs. It is an easy to use intuitive, guns, rifles, tools and ammunition management solution. This system was designed and written out of necessity by an avid gun enthusiast, former US Navy Gunners Mate Guns 1st Class (Surface Warfare) (GMG1(SW)) Armorer and Range Master. This system includes: Weapons information page with all info for a weapon accessible at a glance. Up to 5 pictures of your weapon per gun. Unlimited pictures of best targets shot per gun. Complete Ammunition inventory, reorder, shopping and tracking Including reconciliation and inventory program. Complete weapons Maintenance and Shooting tracking integrated into the Ammunition inventory. Specialized Tool and equipment tracking. Weapons Value reports for insurance. Intuitive user interface making it easy to keep the system updated and adds value to your collection. Automated data entry once everything is set up all you really have to use is the mouse and occasionally the keyboard. Plus much more. This version was written in FileMaker Pro 12. The reason this program was written in FileMaker was the multi OS, Mac, Windows, and with FileMaker go ios devices. This software is modifiable to work in multiuser platforms are you situations and can be modified for retail usage as necessary. However this licensing is only for single user usage only the file can be used on an ios device that cannot be copied back from an ios device without breaking the software (this is by FileMaker design not by our design). I am working on ios import and export, but so far have been blocked by FileMaker. However we have now added a way to export and import data between your ios device and the runtime version See Utilities Menu. Multiuser and ios integration and any customization can be set up by us for a fee for labor and expenses the plus licensing from FileMaker. Page 2 9/5/12

3 To Start the program simply click on the application icon Gun s & Ammo Tracker. This will bring you to the Main Menu Click on Guns will bring you to the main guns records. Once you open the application you come to the main screen which contains most information of your weapon and scrollable windows with Accessories, Ammunition (for this weapon) Available for use and Maintnance Performed including Rounds fired and Page 3 9/5/12

4 Gun's & Ammo Tracker targets. All main fields are accessible through folder tabs activated by clicking on the text. On all picture frames throughout the program you right mouse click the frame to add or replace the picture from file. By clicking view picture the picture will be shown in a maximized window, close the window to return to previous screen or click on picture what are the same. Page 4 9/5/12

5 Most tabs are self explanatory The Primary Information tab gives you both information on each weapon plus summaries I have even included a rating from being best. The re-calculate guns will make sure all fields are up to date for the whole database. Accessories tab where you can add delete and edit accessories attached to each weapon To add simply click on last line and start typing it will auto fill. Page 5 9/5/12

6 On the maintenance tab simply click on the work performed empty record it will bring up auto entry list and add record including date. Once you enter the rounds shot and press tab it will bring you to the ammo records so you can subtract the appropriate ammo from your inventory. The Ammo Tab lists all ammo available for this weapon. 7 The Targets tab is where you can keep track of pictures of targets shot with this weapon the targets is no unlimited in this software version. New gun manual storage the ability to store and view a PDF of your gun manuals allot user manuals are available from manufacturers websites. You must have Adobe Acrobat installed. 8 in most forms. The Previous button moves you to the previous record of the database that you are in this button is in most forms. The Next button moves you to the next record of the database that you are in this button is in most forms. The Bottom button moves you to the bottom of the database that you are in this button is in most forms. 11 The Add button adds a record to the current database that you are in this button is in most forms. The Delete button deletes a record to the current database that you are in this button is in most forms. This will exit completely out of the application This will take you back to the main menu. 12 The print gun cards program well I need to print a weapons Carter page with the picture and all useful information on it for your collection. Since writing this program I have found it less and less useful to be able to print but wanted to keep the capability in. You can also print a summaries page with small pictures and a listing of your weapons. Page 12 9/5/12

13 The gun manufacturers program is where you can enter gun manufacturers and models of guns for auto entry purposes. The edit ammunition program ot the Ammunition Inventory Program is hwere you can add edit and delete ammunition, lookup UPC s go to the reorder program. Page 13 9/5/12

14 Ammunition Inventory: The Ammunition Barcode Inventory Program is optimized for barcode entry by keyboard or Scanner to make quick work of your inventory helping you maintain your inventory database. For a nice inexpensive barcode scanner here is one from Amazon Click here As you Scan or enter barcodes the program looks up to see if you have the ammo and or it is listed in the included growing database of ammo and populates the inventory record. Next it will ask you how much you have. If you do not have any and it is not listed it will give you a chance to enter it. Once you are done scanning and you review your data seeing the differences in quantity you can update the ammo database with the finnish inventory button, this will update all the records to the quantities in the inventory and calculate records, reset the database for the next inventory and exit the program. Note: To run scanning on ipad or iphone you will need Pic2shop if you are using FileMaker Pro 12 you can transfer the files back and forth or share the file with FileMaker and scan on iphone or ipad. See ios transfer utility Barcode scanning: barcode scanning can become accomplished in many ways. Via external barcode scanner or on ios devices through a third-party app we use pick 2 shop. on the ios devices the program uses your camera scan barcodes. Barcodes are merely a number code that enters the number and a return character. The program basically searches or adds that number to the database. Page 14 9/5/12

15 Tool Inventory: The Tools button brings up the tools program, where you enter all your weapons specific tools: The Ammo Shopper Program is designed so you can see if advertised prices are as good as they may look (the ammo shell game) for case prices, you can lookup the upc s online to see if there is better deals out there and if you purchase it you add it to the inventory all from this useful program. I have had to break out a calculator many times to see if some prices are as good as they seem, so I added this program. Page 15 9/5/12

16 The Ammunition Reorder Program allows you to set reorder points and see at a glance what ammo you are getting low on so you can reorder and keep track of what is on order. Total Values Program: The total values program is used to calculate the total value of all your guns, ammo, tools and accessories. Warning this program can be scary. The graphs are not present in the runtime version (Thanks FileMaker) The Dashboard Program gives you about the same as the the runtime version of total Value program with a few extras: Page 16 9/5/12

17 The Maintnance Description program is used to add edit and delete common maintenance descriptions to be automatically added to your maintenance records you can choose these instead of retyping them. Page 17 9/5/12

18 The Caliber program where you can add edit and delete your gun caliber caliber class and common name These are used for sorting in the different programs. It is not a mistake it is used to sort! This was necessary due to some guns like the 357 Mag can also shoot the 38 special round and the sort by caliber option. The ammunition-reloading program is added to the ammunition records program to keep track of your reloading data for ammunition type. Page 18 9/5/12

19 The Utilities button brings up the utilities menu where you can go to the Caliber program and the Maintnance Description Program. ios Transfer Utility Using the Guns & Ammo Tracker on your ios mobile device ipad or iphone. The iphone version is really a limited because the size of the device we strongly recommend using on the ipad. You can use it on the iphone as a reference but I wouldn't suggest keeping moving files back and forth. 1. First you need to get FileMaker go for the ipad from the itunes store is now free for version From the utilities menu choose save to mobile. 3. With your ios device hooked up to itunes go to the apps section under FileMaker go copy the file guns.mob.fmp12 from the guns directory to your ios device. Page 19 9/5/12

On your ipad launch FileMaker go 12 and open the file that you downloaded the Guns & Ammo Tracker works pretty much the same with some minor touch differences but works about the same as on the desktop. Once done you can copy the file from the device using the same apps utility back to the original directory. Page 20 9/5/12

21 Then run the restore from mobile. Note: if you run this program and you made changes on the desktop that are not on the mobile they will be deleted in favor of the file from the mobile device. This is not a synchronization system the best way to do this is to run this through the server system which can be extremely more expensive. Installation Instructions Installation of Guns & Ammo Tracker is quite simple. Since it's written in FileMaker, the FileMaker runtime will install itself the first time program is run. The program can be run on any disk most people would want to put it on a USB disk and keep USB disk in their weapons safe. On Apple simply copy the contents of the guns Apple directory to wear for you want to install the program some people put it in applications you can put it in documents or USB drive the shortcuts to the guns and ammo tracker and gun sample may have to be modified depending on where you put it with the get info and select a new original commands on Apple. On Windows Simply copy the contents of the guns zip or directory meridians up it to the disc or directory you would like and you will have to modify the shortcut depending on where you put it. The gun sample is a fully functional program to give you ideas on how to use the program using dummy data that I have left for you to play with it has pictures of some of my guns. I suggest you use this first before using doing live data to get used to how the program operates. Upgrading: Note it's upgrading from previous windows only version of the guns and ammo tracker it is very difficult to do you may have to do a lot of copying and pasting of pictures because of the filing compatibility issues or if you prefer we can do it for a reasonable cost. 22 Remember always make a complete back up the entire directory before attempting an upgrade. Backups will save her a lot of work. Depending on your set up the scripts may or may not work for upgrade. Upgrade instructions 1. First backup all your data using the backup function under utilities program. Make sure that there is a backup subdirectory in your guns folder or this will not work. 2. Next verify that the files in the backup directory match the current date and time you did your backup. Then copy or unzip the new distribution into your directory. a. Note the older versions have multi file backups the new version has a single file backup which makes it quicker and easier to backup and restore. Page 22 9/5/12

23 3. In the new utilities menu choose restore from backup button. 4. This will bring you to restore from backup dialog window where you can either choose to restore from multi file or single file and warns you that improper use of this could result in data loss. 5. Once in action this takes a few minutes to complete it goes through and recalculates all your totals and make sure the file is intact. Page 23 9/5/12

26 The magazine quantity is the amount of magazines you have her what the magazines included are the number of magazines it came with your gun and the magazine value in the magazine value each is the cost per magazine so the program can calculate the value of your extra magazines. Date & year purchased is a field I have used forever, you don't have to use it you don't want to use it. As far as the ammo tab goes that's where you subtract ammo from your current inventory but you have to have an inventory first entered in the ammunition database itself. As far as the two types of 22's if you wanted under but you can always add another caliber class and to separate the types like 38/357 caliber classes program the utilities menu. The ammo shopper uses data from the ammo database to give you an idea of the cost per round it is calculated by the quantity in the box price per box tax or and or shipping to see if that's a good deal okay deal or not to good deal just another tool I left in there you don't have to use it. Ammunition is tracked through UPC or barcode for each. The inventory program is just an easier way to use a barcode scanner and/or look up, to update your ammunition quantities. Currently we don't use lot numbers in the ammo database did not see a good use for it we will consider in future releases. The ammunition inventory levels again you have to have a full database of ammunition before this tab is useful. Then you have to add record for the types of ammunition and the only changeable field is your reorder point in this program. All the tables in this giant database are linked so you have to enter all appropriate information in the animation, tools, and guns databases for all the functionality to work. As a rule when fields are disabled they're disabled for reason I'm not supposed to be edited during the step of operation. I have done this so that it does not become corrupt. I will see you about incorporating some the other suggestions and future releases of the guns and ammo tracker and I will add to the documentation as I can.
