6 Claude Littner We are extremely proud that Claude Littner, the well-respected British business executive, has bestowed the University of West London the honour of associating his name with the Business School. Claude is a former student of the Business School and dedicated supporter of the University of West London. We are delighted to celebrate his continued involvement with the University and to harness his expertise with our vision to connect business education with the business world. Claude has worked alongside Sir Alan Sugar since the early 1990s as Chairman and Chief Executive of Amstrad International, whilst being the Chief Executive of Tottenham Hotspur from 1993 to He has owned many large organisations such as Powerleague, before selling his share in 2009, and is the current Chairman of Sir Alan Sugar s IT company Viglen. He is also well known for his tough stance with contestants on the BBC s The Apprentice series that has celebrated its 10th anniversary this year. 5

7 The Claude Littner Business School Launch Business entrepreneur Lord Sugar launched The Claude Littner Business School in support of his long-term business partner, Claude Littner. Named in honour of the University alumnus, the launch celebrated Mr Littner s achievements, and positions the School as a leading provider of business education connected to the world of work. Claude Littner delivered the inaugural speech and welcomed Lord Sugar who engaged in a lively question and answer session with invited guests, inspiring them with his views on business. Speaking at the launch, Mr Littner commented, At key points in my life, UWL business courses greatly assisted my personal and career development. I have had a varied and successful career and lifelong association with the University and was honoured when Vice- Chancellor Professor Peter John proposed the Business School in my name. Our tutors are professionally qualified and have worked in industry, giving you the benefit of their experience and knowledge. In the National Student Survey 2013, our course came second out of more than 90 Institutions offering Accounting and Finance*. Accounting tends to be non-cyclical with professionals needed in both buoyant economic times and also when the economy is not performing well. On completion of this course, graduates will be in a position to apply for a vast range of accounting and finance appointments in areas that include financial accounting, management accounting, auditing, taxation and corporate finance. With this combination of knowledge, skills and experience, you will be in a position to excel in the financial marketplace. It is just 30 minutes on the Underground from Central London or eight minutes by fast train to Paddington, with its huge range of theatres, cinemas and other entertainment. The Ealing site is just 20 minutes from London Heathrow International Airport. It is served by fast rail links from Reading and London, and has excellent local bus services. Ealing is easy to reach from all London Underground stations. By bus There are several bus routes which run close to the Ealing site. These are as follows: 65, E2, E8, 207, 427, 607, E3 and E9. By Underground The nearest Underground stations are South Ealing (3 mins walk), which is on the Piccadilly Line and Ealing Broadway (8 10 mins walk) which is on the Central and District Lines. West London site Brentford Boston Manor Road, Brentford, Middx TW8 9GA Our Brentford site is located 1.5 miles south of the Ealing site. There are excellent bus and rail services nearby giving quick and easy access to central London. In addition, the free shuttle bus runs to and from both sites, and local tube stations.
