2 APPLICATION PROCESS Prospective students are welcome, with the approval of New York University College of Nursing s Office of Student Affairs and Admissions, to take graduate core courses as non-matriculated (non-degree) students. Students seeking permission to register as a non-matriculated student must be U.S. citizens or Permanent Residents, and have an appropriate undergraduate grade point average. Approval to register as a non-matriculated student is subject to the rules and regulations of the College of Nursing and New York University. Policies and procedures in the College of Nursing as well as those of the United States government do not permit enrollment of international students in a non-matriculated status. International students must submit an application for admission as matriculated students. To take courses as a non-matriculated student, submission of the Application for Non-Matriculated (Non- Degree) Status is required along with a non-refundable application fee and official transcript(s) in a sealed envelope. The Application for Non-Matriculated (Non-Degree) Status is available from the College of Nursing Office of Student Affairs and Admissions, 726 Broadway, 10 th Floor, (212) , or online at Approval to take courses as a non-matriculated student does not signify acceptance to the College of Nursing s degree programs. Prospective students interested in applying to the College of Nursing s baccalaureate, master s or doctoral degree program must submit the required application for admission. Information on the admissions procedure is available on the College of Nursing website at APPLICATION DEADLINE The Application for Non-Matriculated (Non-Degree) Status, the required non-refundable application fee, and an official transcript(s) in a sealed envelope must be received by New York University College of Nursing, Office of Student Affairs and Admissions, 726 Broadway, 10th Floor, New York, NY by the application deadline of: May 1 for the Summer (May August) semester August 1 for the Fall (September December) semester December 1 for the Spring (January May) semester Students approved to register as a non-matriculated student will receive an official of approval from the College of Nursing Office of Student Affairs and Admissions. Please allow three to six weeks after submission of your application to receive a decision. REGISTRATION A maximum of 9 credits (graduate) may be taken as a non-matriculated student. Non-matriculated students can only register for select courses in the College of Nursing. The select courses available to non-matriculated students are identified in the table below. Non-matriculated students cannot register for nursing major courses. NURSE-GN 2303 Nursing Research NURSE-GN 2005 Statistics for Health Professionals NURSE-GN 2041 Nursing Issues and Trends Within the Health Care Delivery System Please Note: Non-matriculated students will be cleared to register after the registration period for all newly admitted and currently matriculated students. The College of Nursing cannot guarantee the availability of courses to non-matriculated students. Page 2 of 5
3 The options to audit or take courses pass/fail are not available to non-matriculated students. Financial aid, University housing, and student health insurance are not available to nonmatriculated students. ADVISEMENT CLEARANCE STEPS Step 1: Once approved to take courses, you should search the availability and schedule of classes through the NYU Registrar website at click on Course Search. You may also want to refer to the College of Nursing Academic Bulletin, which can be viewed at Step 2: Once cleared to register by the College of Nursing Office of Student Affairs and Admissions, you should follow the steps to register for courses via Albert. REGISTERING FOR COURSES ON ALBERT Albert is New York University s online student registration system. Albert is accessed through the NYUHome web portal Before you can access Albert you must first activate your NYU NetID and NYUHome account by doing the following: 1) 2) 3) Your NYU NetID is the prefix of your NYU address. The NetID may be found on your NYU ID Card or you can log on to the NYU ITS Start page at click on Don t know your NetID? and follow the online instructions. Once you have activated your NYU NetID, complete the steps for activating your NYUHome account. You now have access to NYUAlbert. Click the Academics tab in the upper-left portion of the NYUHome window; you will see Albert for Students, click on Student Login to be taken to the online registration system. On Albert you can check the availability of courses, register, view your schedule, print an unofficial NYU transcript, update your personal profile, and obtain your tuition bill. For registration related functions, please select one of the features listed underneath the Registration menu. DROP/ADD PERIOD During the Fall and Spring semesters FIRST WEEK: Signature of an admissions advisor is required before adding or dropping courses (includes even exchanges) and also for withdrawing from the University. SECOND - THIRD WEEK: Signatures of an admission advisor and Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Admissions are required when the student is adding or dropping courses to his/her program (includes even exchanges). AFTER THIRD WEEK: Students will not be permitted to register after the third week of the term. If you drop a course after the end of the third week of the term the course will remain on your record with a grade of W. During the Summer semester: Due to the intensive nature of New York University s summer and winter intersession programs the Drop/Add policy for each session is according to days instead of weeks. Please review the NYU Directory of Classes for more information. FIRST DAY OF SESSION: Signature of an admissions advisor is required before adding or dropping courses (includes even exchanges) and also for withdrawing from the University. Page 3 of 5
4 SECOND AND THIRD DAYS OF SESSION: Signatures of an admissions advisor and Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Admissions are required when the student is adding or dropping courses to his/her program (includes even exchanges). AFTER THIRD DAY OF SESSION: Students will not be permitted to register after the third day of session. If you drop a course after the end of third day of the session, the course will remain on your record with a grade of W. TUITION PAYMENT Upon completion of the registration process on Albert, you must submit full tuition payment to the University Bursar at 25 West 4 th Street. You can review the University s current tuition and registration fee schedule as well as payment deadlines on the Bursar s website at Please note: The University reserves the right to block registration and withhold all information regarding the record of any student who is in arrears in the payment of tuition, fees, loans or other for as long as any arrears remain. REFUND PERIOD SCHEDULE This schedule is based on the total applicable charge for tuition excluding non-returnable fees and deposits. Withdrawal Fall and Spring semesters Prior to and during the first week of classes 100%, during the second week of classes 70%, during the third week of classes 55%, during the fourth week of classes 25%, during the fifth week and after NO REFUND. Withdrawal Summer (THREE WEEK SESSIONS ONLY) Before official opening date of session 100%, on first calendar day of session 100%, on second calendar day of session 70%, on third calendar day of session 55%, on fourth calendar day of session 25%, after fourth calendar day of session NO REFUND. The College of Nursing follows the University s schedule on refunds as listed on the University Registrar calendar at and in the College of Nursing Academic Bulletin available at Students who wish to appeal for an exception to the refund policy may do so in writing to: Amy J.B. Students who register for courses, but cannot attend must officially inform the College of Nursing by filing a Change of Program form. We will also accept written notification via mail or fax to the College of Nursing, Office of Student Affairs and Admissions, 726 Broadway, 10th Floor, New York, New York 10003, fax to (212) Refunds will be computed from the day on which written notice of withdrawal is received. No change in your class schedule is valid unless it is reported to the College of Nursing Office of Student Affairs and Admissions, the Office of the University Registrar, and the Office of the Bursar on the Change of Program forms (drop/add). 5 PROOF OF IMMUNIZATION New York University requires that all students enrolling in six or more credits to comply with New York State Public Health Law 2165, which requires all students born on or after January 1, 1957, to present proof of immunization against Measles, Mumps, and Rubella.
