The Village of Ashwaubenon is located in Brown County, WI with a residential population of 18,000 residents, but is a busy community with daytime populations of 45,000 people. We have approximately 50 full-time sworn personnel and 25 part-time personnel. All full-time sworn personnel are certified as police officers, fire fighters and E.M.T.-Basic or Paramedic level. Part-time personnel provide supplemental fire/e.m.s. staff. Approximately 10 non-sworn staff take care of duties such as administrative, records, C.S.O. and fire inspections. At this time we presently have two stations. CESA 6 is a non-profit, member-driven cooperative educational service agency thus part of our name is CESA. And, we are one of 12 CESAs in Wisconsin we are CESA 6! With offices headquartered in Oshkosh, WI CESA 6 serves 42 public school districts. At CESA 6, we keep our eye on the current education landscape, and think ahead (Smart Thinking that is!) to be proactive and responsive and meet the changing needs of the educators who use our services. Schools, educators, school districts and education-related organizations can rely on CESA 6 to be a partner for innovative products and services delivered with expertise and professionalism. We are collaborative too. (Cooperative is right in our name!) Internally, we lean on each other for the varied experiences and expertise that over 200 staff bring to the table, as we collaborate to find right products and solutions for today s learners and learning environments. It is one of the fastest growing communities in the county and the jurisdictional boundaries are located just over a mile from the City of Madison (population 243,344). We provide 24 hour a day protection for Waunakee's 2014 population of 13,100 residents. Officers patrol over 225 streets, multiple businesses, and many parks. Officers have over 21,000 contacts annually with individuals. The department provides many community policing programs including; National Night Out, Bicycle Rodeo, Shop with a Cop, Citizen's Academy, and White Collar Crime Symposiums. The Waunakee Police Department consistently has a crime clearance rate well above the State average (Source: Uniform Crime Report Data) Waunakee Police Officers are equipped with the latest equipment and technology. Officers regularly attend specialized training above and beyond the state required training. The department has two firearms instructors, two DAAT instructors, and two EVOC/Vehicle Contacts instructors. Department members work closely with neighboring law enforcement agencies such as the Dane County Narcotics and Gang Task Force, City/County Burglary Task Force, and a County-Wide traffic safety committee. Waunakee Officers work a unique schedule which affords them every other weekend off. These weeks of law enforcement training are a requirement of even the most qualified Cadets regardless of previous law enforcement experience, education or training. Cadets must live at the academy during the week and return home on the weekends. There is no charge for room and board at the academy. Troopers: Enforcement of State traffic and criminal laws, administrative rules and regulations, with primary emphasis on highway safety and preservations. Inspectors: Enforcement and inspection of Motor Carriers for compliance with laws and regulations at a permanent scale site. (The work is necessary to monitor and regulate the safe transportation of persons and property by motor carriers on public highways and bridges.)
