There are more than 140 weekly non-stop departures to Foreign Trade Zone #182 Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth, Tampa, and other major cities. ROADWAYS Within a little over two hours truck or rail ride, the Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor on Lake Michigan and the Port of Toledo on Lake Erie provide access to the Saint Lawrence Seaway. The major electric utility serving Allen County is Indiana Michigan Power (I&M). Some areas of Allen County are served by Northeastern REMC, United REMC or Paulding Putnam Electric. About 70% of the population of Allen County is served by City Utilities, which is the largest municipally owned water utility in Indiana. Municipal Sewer City Utilities is also a major provider of sanitary sewer facilities for both the city and county. Garbage collection Telecommunications The City of Fort Wayne offers full garbage and trash pickup service for all residents. Other local municipalities also provide garbage collection service. Businesses and residents outside the city limits may arrange for private service. All Tier I carriers serve the Fort Wayne rate center, and several other telecommunication service providers maintain a presence in the market. Carriers of national significance available include AT&T, Sprint, Frontier Communications Corp., Qwest, Comcast and Level 3. Long-haul access routes are available to major telecommunication exchange points, including Chicago, Indianapolis, Columbus and Detroit.
