1 GLOBAL MBA PROGRAM (GMBA) ARISON SCHOOL OF BUSINESS ACADEMIC YEAR RAPHAEL RECANATI INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

2 A WORLD OF NEW OPPORTUNITIES As hard as it was, I don t think you can get such a gratifying experience in any other MBA program I found myself making recommendations to the top management leading Israeli company, and a few months later I read in the papers that my team s advice was actually implemented! As a GCP student I was given the tools and practical experience to deal with the real life issues in designing strategies in an international environment. I was exposed to the top management of Israel s leading firms, and made close friends with my Wharton teammates. As hard as it was, I don t think you can get such a gratifying experience in any other MBA program. Noam Bernstein, GMBA2 Strategic Business Development, Nekuda DM I made Aliyah in 2008 from Spain, full of hopes and ambitions. Joining the GMBA was the best choice I have made. The creative and supportive program together with the inspirational mentorship have changed the course of my life. I started developing a start-up idea under their umbrella, which has now become my own start-up company. Joining the GMBA was the best choice I have made Rebeqa Querub, GMBA6 CEO & Co-Founder, StorEx.me In order to turn an idea into a real start-up, one needs the right tools Many of us have great ideas. But in order to turn an idea into a real start-up, one needs the right tools, mentoring and guidance. The Media Lab innovation and entrepreneurship track offers all that and much more, with a cultivating, supporting and fun environment which is led by experienced professionals. Elad Gov-Ari, GMBA5 Business Consultant at Easy-Forex, and Founder of KidKad 2

3 My experience from the GCP program was extremely enriching in many different aspects. The consulting project our team was assigned to enabled us to deal with highly complex situations that required multidimensional mental exercises. We needed to translate financial forecasts, market research, internal company factors of different kinds and additional parameters into a practical framework for the company. Whether one is a senior manager, a consultant or an entrepreneur, the skills gained from this program are extremely valuable. This is especially true for those who choose more challenging career paths where solutions aren t obvious and problem solving techniques are a necessity. My experience from the GCP program was extremely enriching in many different aspects Ravit Weizman Tamir, GMBA7 Independent Consultant & Entrepreneur, OSRY Consulting LTD. 3

Dr. Oren Zuckerman Academic Director of the GMBA Innovation & Entrepreneurship Track Founder and Co-Director, the Media Innovation Lab at IDC Herzliya Michal Olmert Naishtein Executive Director Students of the track study together core MBA courses, as well as several basic/mandatory courses in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. In addition to the courses studied in class, students will be offered many opportunities for Learning by Doing *, in two major paths: 1. LAB In the Lab course you will experiment with the development of ideas and prototypes for innovative technological initiatives, of your invention. You will develop new products, services and media experiences and promote them, simultaneously, from both the business and product perspectives. The work in the lab is performed in teams, and together you will contend with various technological and business challenges, and also with challenges of human-computer interaction. The Lab course will open up to you new opportunities, and provide you with the space to develop, prototype and test your ideas. The course is accompanied by leading mentors from the Israeli startup community (entrepreneurs, investors and experts in a variety of fields). 2. Accelerator Experience A practicum in which you will intern in early-stage startups active in the leading accelerators in Israel. For a period of several months, you will devote 6-8 weekly hours, to carrying out professional projects for the venture you are interning at. This internship will provide you with professional and practical experience, and, at the same time, expose you to the Israeli innovation ecosystem. This is a unique opportunity to experience from within the first stages in the lives of young startups. In 2015 our students were assigned to startups in Microsoft Ventures, Sigma Labs, The Junction, MindCET and Nautilus (AOL s accelerator in Israel). In the coming year we intend to expand and enhance our collaborations and the range of options for practical experience in accelerators. * Admission to the Learning by Doing paths is subject to a screening process that takes place during the course of studies. 10 OVERSEAS MODULE The idea behind the overseas module is that an efficient and effective business operation in any market requires thorough knowledge of the context in which business takes place. The module and study trip introduce students to the historical, economic, cultural, social and geopolitical circumstances of the country along with its economic and geopolitical rise. At the end of the module, students will be familiar with some of the unique features of each country and will be able to develop tools with which to extend their knowledge in the future. The study trip allows students to fully immerse themselves in the environment and to take their business and cultural understanding to a deeper level. STUDY TRIP TO CHINA This annual trip quite literally takes you out of the academic study of global business within the classroom and places you in the cultural and industrial heart of China. Our aim when designing this trip was to ensure your involvement in China s emergence as a growing business leader. For these reasons the trip includes both business visits in Shanghai & Beijing, as well as cultural visits to major tourist sites. STUDY TRIP FOR THE I&E TRACK - US In recent years, NYC has developed into what is now called Silicon Alley, the Silicon Valley of the east coast. Hundreds of technology startups, mostly Internet and New Media focused are now based in the city. In addition, NYC is one of the world s most important business centers, home to some of the world s most prominent companies is all sectors. Among our plans for visiting NYC are meeting startup companies and entrepreneurs with an Israeli connection, as well as visiting interesting leaders in other sectors. Silicon Valley is a nickname for the southern portion of the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California in the United States. It is home to many of the world s largest technology corporations, as well as thousands of tech startup companies. The term originally referred to the region s large number of silicon chip innovators and manufacturers, but eventually came to refer to all high-tech businesses in the area, and is now generally used as a metonym for the American hightechnology economic sector. Study Trip for the I&E Track Berlin When the Berlin Wall fell in 1989, it attracted an onset of artists, musicians and other creatives to the city. While housing prices in other European cities skyrocketed over the years Berlin remains relatively affordable, offering young, aspiring entrepreneurs a lower-cost, lower-risk platform to jump-start their companies. With new accelerators, many innovative startups, design studios, major events, vibrant lifestyle and cheap cost of life, Berlin is considered to emerge as Europe s Silicon Valley. The Berlin study trip will explore this emerging startup scene with visits to innovation hubs, young and established startups, design centers and also big companies that are focused on embracing innovation. * Number of participants in each trip is limited. * Priority in participating will be given to the advanced class. * IDC Herzliya will subsidize one trip per student. * IDC Herzliya reserves the right to change the trip s destination, with the students interest in mind. 10

11 THE ARISON LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM The Arison Leadership Development Program is a unique program exclusively offered to students enrolled in the MBA and GMBA programs at the Arison School of Business. Based on similar models offered at Harvard Business School, INSEAD and IMD, the Arison Leadership Development Program (ALDP) invites students to engage in a rich integrative curriculum that enables a profound personalized learning process. The ALDP kicks off with Arison s flagship leadership retreat. A core requirement for all incoming MBA and GMBA students, this intensive 3-day experiential workshop enables students to learn about the covert dynamics of teams and organizations through hands-on engagement with their peers. Staffed by leading Clinical and Organizational Psychologists the retreat also helps students to develop a deeper awareness of their leadership styles their key strengths and development needs - and the underlying motivators that drive them. It is this personalized approach that provokes many students at the end of the retreat to spontaneously comment, this is why I chose IDC. Dr. Sivanie Shiran Following the retreat, the ALDP continues with open, modular programming throughout the year - allowing students to customize their learning experience so that it best addresses their individual needs and interests. Students are invited to attend small group workshops that allow them to consult with peers and experts on their unique professional and career dilemmas as emerging managers. Besides growing their skills, these workshops help students put their full potential to work and afford them an exceptional opportunity to network with students from other programs. Those students enrolled in the ALDP also have the privilege of engaging in in-depth one-on-one coaching. Finally, the ALDP also invites students to participate in the exclusive series LEADERSHIP BEHIND THE SCENES which includes spotlight interviews with extraordinary leaders from the field of global business.
