1 Syllabus of M.A. Public Administration University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya ACADEMIC SESSION Course Code: MPA School Code: SSSH MASTER IN PUBIC ADMINISTRATION Public Administration is an inter-disciplinary area of studies. Its theories and concepts have been drawn from other disciplines of social sciences, such as, economics, political science, management, law, sociology and psychology, with an objective of educating the students to be eventually capable of working in work in various sectors of public life. Careers in public administration demand administrative skills and knowledge, a solid understanding of various dimensions of governance, organizational proficiency, knowledge of working of various departments and corporate sectors, administration, budgeting, accounting, finance, and organizational proficiency. There are career opportunities in non-profit agencies and local government bodies, state government, public service organizations, such as, animal welfare, healthcare agencies, and environmental management at national and international levels. Career aspirants, at the successful completion of the course can secure jobs administrators, budget analysts or executives with various social groups. For professionals with doctorate degree can join in administrative management sector; industrial sector; personnel management sector; legal sector and social service sectors as well. The study of this field includes: - Theories of Administration Public organizations Public Services Constitutional framework Post-graduate studies:- For pursuing an Master in Public Administration, student must have completed graduation in any discipline. Usually the duration for the master's degree programme is 2 years. One can undertake further studies leading to obtaining a Ph. D degree.
