1 Greater North Carolina Area Combined Federal Campaign 2010 Volunteer Training
2 Combined Federal Campaign Overview The mission of the CFC is to support and to promote philanthropy through a voluntary program that is employee-focused, cost-efficient and effective in providing all Federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all.
3 Combined Federal Campaign The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) is the only authorized solicitation of Federal employees in their workplaces on behalf of approved charitable organizations. The CFC began in the early 1960 s to coordinate the fundraising efforts of various charitable organizations so that the Federal donor would only be solicited once in the workplace and have the opportunity to make charitable contributions through payroll deduction. Federal employees continue to make the CFC the largest and most successful workplace philanthropic fundraiser in the world. Continuing a long-standing tradition of selfless giving, in 2009, Federal employees raised over $282 million dollars for charitable causes around the world.

On-line Charity List for easy look-up Use the Payroll Deduction option to spread your payments out for 12 months. Donors making contributions through the CFC will not be added to charity mailing lists. Donors do not have to look up addresses or websites for organizations.
12 Why the CFC? Benefits for the Charity: The CFC helps reduce fundraising costs for the charities. Staff can focus on services, instead of fundraising Increased donor base Larger contributions through payroll deduction Consistent income All charities in the CFC are screened by federal employees who serve as volunteers. Local charities are screened by local volunteers. National and International charities are screened by a national CFC committee.

(Must use the same login & password each year)
36 Why use on-line pledging? 2008 Campaign Results Average Contribution Amount 2009 Campaign Results Average Contribution Amount Contributions on-line $286, Paper $387, Contributions on-line $290, Paper $401,853.70
37 Security Features?????? Firewalls - CFC Nexus utilized state of art Internet technologies to ensure data transactions are safe. SSL certification by Versign, an industry leader in security, is employed for all areas of the site concerning pledging or the reporting of specific pledge information. SSN entered by each donor is stored in the database only long enough for the payroll coordinator to process the pledge. Once processed, that sensitive data is wiped from the system and can not be recovered. While in the system, it is encrypted and secured in several different manners.
