1 2013 Passing Rates for Nursing Graduates In The North Carolina Community College System The 2013 Passing Rates for the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) and the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) for the North Carolina Community College System is provided for your information. 2 2013 Passing Rates for Nursing Graduates In the North Carolina Community College System North Carolina Administrative Code 21 NCAC (e) states The nursing program shall maintain a three year average at or above 95 % of the national pass rate for licensure level pass rate on first writing of the licensure examination for calendar years ending December 31. National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) national pass rate average 85% Benchmark = 95% of the National Pass Rate Average; this year s benchmark is 81% One PN program s pass rates was below 81%. National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) national pass rate average 87% Benchmark = 95% of the National Pass Rate Average; this year s benchmark is 83% Six ADN programs were below 83%. 9 First time test takers of the NCLEX-RN Boards The North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) provides pre-licensure education for the majority of graduates that sit for the NCLEX-RN examination in North Carolina. For example: In 2009, 3,960 nursing graduates in N.C. took the NCLEX-RN for the first time. Of this total, 2,212 (or fifty-six percent) graduated from the NCCCS.
