3 Parish Finances May 25, 2013 Total Offertory $2, May EFT $4, St. Vincent de Paul $ Catholic Appeal $15, Catholic Appeal 2014 Thank you to parishioners at St. Isidore who have made a gift to the 2014 Catholic Appeal. The Appeal is to our Archdiocese what the weekly offertory is to our parish. If you have not yet made your gift, please consider making a pledge this weekend. We have received 15, in pledges, reaching 86% of our parish goal of $17, Remember, our parish will receive 25 percent of all funds we raise above our goal. Welcome New Parishioners Please introduce yourself to Father Walter, Fr. John, or Deacon Charlie. Call or visit the rectory to fill out a registration card to be included in our database. Notice of Summer Mass Schedule CARDINAL SEAN MAKES NEW ASSIGNMENTS Cardinal Sean has assigned Fr. John Swencki as parochial vicar of St. Joseph and St. Francis Parishes in Medford, which will become a Collaborative on June 3. We thank Fr. John for his service in the past two years, and pray that he be richly blessed in his new assignment. Cardinal Sean has also assigned Fr. Paul Sughrue as a parochial vicar of St. Isidore and St. Elizabeth of Hungary parishes. He will serve half-time as parochial vicar, and half-time in hospital ministry. Fr. Paul is wrapping up his service as pastor of St. Clare Parish in Braintree. We welcome Fr. Paul to our parishes and pray that he will likewise be richly blessed as he serves among us. In light of Cardinal Sean s wish that priests assigned to a collaborative should live in the same house, Fr. Paul will reside at St. Elizabeth Parish rectory. His assignment also means that we ll be able to maintain the daily and Sunday Mass schedule in both parishes. These assignments take effect on June 3. St. Isidore will follow a summer mass schedule beginning on June 22nd and ending on September 7, Saturdays: Confessions from 4-4:30PM And Mass at 5PM Sundays: Mass at 9:30AM We will return to our regular mass schedule on September 14th. Save the date.. Cardinal Sean has appointed Fr. Walter J. Woods as Pastor of St. Isidore Parish, effective June 3, Fr. Walter will be publicly installed on Sunday, June 15 at the 10:30 Mass. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us. Following mass a reception will be held in the church hall. 3

4 The mission statement of St. Isidore Parish St. Isidore Parish is a Catholic faith community committed to helping people deepen their relationship with Christ. The cornerstones of our mission are: the celebration of the Eucharist, Christian service, evangelization, and religious education for every person. These are the foundations through which we help people to grow and sustain the excitement of their relationship. We are committed, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to welcoming all to our faith community, seeing Christ in one another and growing in our commitment to be more like Christ, especially in our daily prayer life. Goal 1 - It is the goal of this parish to strengthen the faith commitment of the parishioners, both children and adults, by involving them in opportunities that will allow them to experience a growth in their faith. PROTECTING GOD'S CHILDREN TRAINING FOR ALL VOLUNTEERS All volunteers at St. Isidore are required by the Archdiocese of Boston to complete the "Protecting God's Children" Program (also called VIRTUS). This program is part of our goal to provide a safe environment for all our parishioners, but especially our children and vulnerable adults. If you are a volunteer in the parish or will be going on one of the mission trips this summer and you have not already completed this training (you only have to do it once), we will be offering the following sessions. Monday June 2 at 6:30 PM in the Sacristy Monday June 9 at 6:30 PM in the Sacristy If you would like to attend, you must call ahead. We will not hold the session if we do not get enough participants. Goal 2 - It is the goal of this parish to develop a plan to reach out to other parishes within our cluster. This outreach can be on an informal and/or formal basis. CANDIDATES NEEDED FOR NEW COLLABORATIVE PASTORAL COUNCIL According to rules set forth by Cardinal Sean, there is to be a single pastoral council in a collaborative, with membership drawn from each of the parishes within it. Among the primary responsibilities of the new pastoral council are to foster pastoral activity and to help formulate a pastoral plan to strengthen parish services and programs. The plan s ultimate purpose is to enable us and our two parishes to carry out the mission of evangelization in a more intentional and effective way. Because the pastoral plan is so important, the archdiocese will provide training for pastoral council members ahead of time. If you would like to be considered for service on the new pastoral council or wish to recommend a fellow parishioner, please get in touch with Fr. Walter. 4

Summer Program at the College of Saint Mary Magdalen Once again, the College of Saint Mary Magdalen in Warner, NH is pleased to announce the dates for its Summer Program for high school students. The Collegiate Summer Program offers participants the opportunity to study theology, philosophy, literature and political science. During the summer program, students also attend daily Mass and enjoy sports, socials and day trips including hiking and canoeing. The program is for students who will be entering their sophomore, junior or senior year of high school in the fall of It is also open to students who have just graduated high school. 6 Knitters & Crocheters!! We encourage families to volunteer to bring up the gifts during Mass. If you wish to volunteer, see the presider, deacon, or one of the ushers before mass. When baptism is being celebrated or First Eucharist, or Confirmation, the gifts are brought up by families or children celebrating the sacrament. The Prayer Shawl Ministry has created yarn kits, with directions, so that you can create a prayer shawl at home. The Prayer Shawl Ministry gifts these shawls to those in our Parish suffering illness or loss. This is a wonderful way to pray for, and help, our community. Please contact Robin or Joyce to come by and pick out a kit. If you park on Great Road during mass please be sure to leave plenty of room near driveways so they are not blocked. Thank You!
