6 FORMATS & CANVAS OPTIONS USE OF FORMATS 4:3 SIZE SCREEN SCREEN SIZE (overall dimensions) 1.33:1 4:3 TELEVISION Format The 4:3 format is the TV standard for all programs except cinema. It is also used in 35 mm photography. EXTRA-DROP (Black drop around image size) :9 1.78:1 :9 TELEVISION Format The :9 format is designed for watching films on a television set. It s the perfect screen for movie lovers. Its Ratio, 1.77:1 is very close to the 1.85:1 and will allow for slight (and almost imperceptible) anamorphic distortion. The choice of :9 is also due to the fact that it is a multiple of 4:3 (4:3 x 4:3 = :9). 21:9 2.35:1 PANAVISION Format Panavision format, also known as Academy Scope, also uses anamorphic distortion for the projection. This is the most commonly used standard today. It corresponds to the cinema format term on DVDs. CHOICE OF GAIN The gain represents the degree of reflection of the canvas, meaning how it more or less restores the light it absorbs. A canvas that restores the light it absorbs normally offers a gain of 1 and diffuses light according to a wide angle, so that spectators off-center are able to get an image that is as well-illuminated as viewers located at the center of the room. A canvas with a higher gain level (>1) will offer higher reflection on a narrower angle, suitable, for example, for a 3D projection. : :1 WIDE Format New arrival in this 2013 line, the :10 format, common among professionals, is ideal for video projection of technical presentations. 1:1 SQUARE Format Brand new in the 2013 catalogue, the 1:1 format meets specific needs as well as the projection of film reels. INVERTED ROLLING CANVASS Are you interested in installing a screen in the middle of your living room, set into a beam for example, and keeping the case out of sight? White mat screens, with an inverting rolling canvas, represent the ideal solution for that kind of installation, perfectly integrated into the decor, hiding any sign of the projection screen. Set up against a bracket or a beam, these screens unroll a canvas that you can then orient accordingly. 6

7 CANVAS OPTIONS FRONTAL PROJECTION: White matt canvas Two frontal projection canvas options are used in our products, the PVC fabric for square or stretched screens and fiberglass canvass specifically made for Lumene for other types of canvass. They guarantee perfect colorimetric fidelity, a large angle and a 1.0 gain. REAR PROJECTION: Translucent Canvas The translucent Lumene canvas is ideal for retro projection, meaning image diffusion by a video projector placed behind the screen. The screen filters the light and the image forms in front of the viewer with heightened contrast and luminosity. SOUND PROJECTION: Woven Canvas The acoustics Lumene woven canvas is ideal for installing a powerful audio system behind the projection screen. The woven structure enable excellent sound message projection to listeners, without distortion of the sound signal. This is probably the best trans-acoustic canvas on the market. 3D PROJECTION: 3D gray canvas The gray elevated 2.0 gain Lumene canvas is particularly wellsuited to 3D video projection, due to the excellent contrast and perfectly utilized luminosity.
