2 Installing/Upgrading to Sage Line 100 Windows Version 7.20 Are you are carrying out an upgrade installation of the Sage Line 100 Windows program? If so, you MUST ensure that you have upgraded your Sage Line 100 DOS program before upgrading to your new Sage Line 100 Windows program. Please refer to the Upgrade DOS Installation Guide within \Documents\Upgrade DOS Installation.doc first. Once you have completed your DOS upgrade, please proceed to the section To Install Windows Version 7.20 from CD-ROM to upgrade your Sage Line 100 Windows installation. Are you are carrying out a new installation of the Sage Line 100 Windows program? If so, you MUST install the Sage Line 100 DOS program before you install your new Sage Line 100 for Windows program. Please refer to section Installing Sage Line 100 DOS Version 7.20 stages 1,2, and 3 of the New DOS Installation Guide within \Documents\New DOS Installation.doc. The Line 100 Windows program can only be installed on a 32-bit operating system such as Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000 Professional or Windows ME. Windows NT: Please note the printing of cheques, payslips and P14/P60 s from Payroll requires the setting of a custom page length. This facility is not fully supported by Windows NT. It is therefore not possible to produce batches of payslips or cheques, and P14/P60 s on Sage forms via the Windows print interface on Windows NT. The forms may still be produced via the DOS printing techniques provided by Line 100. New installations require a Remote Site License (Enable String) which enables both DOS and Windows systems. The Windows system requires enabling. For network installations you are recommended to consult the documentation relating to your network system, referring to guidelines on the installation of software applications on your particular network. To Install Windows Version 7.20 from CD-ROM When installing the Windows program, the files must be installed into the same folders (directories) as the DOS version. Note for network installations: network server installations must be performed first, followed by the client installation. You must perform the client installation at all client PCs, even if you have already performed the network server installation from that PC. Note: If your drive letters are different from those in the following instructions, replace them with the appropriate drive letter. Your Line 100 Windows program uses the information you entered when installing the DOS program. Follow the steps given below to install your Line 100 Windows program. To install your Line 100 Windows program 1. From within Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000 Professional or Windows ME open the Start menu and then choose the Run option. The Run window appears. 1

3 2. Insert your CD into the CD-ROM drive and in the Open text box type d:\line100w\disk1\setup then choose the OK button. If D does not represent your CD-ROM drive then replace this with the appropriate letter. If you are using the Windows 95 operating system the process will begin by installing the DCOM95 protocol. This protocol allows applications distributed across different locations to share common information. Users of Windows 98 and above will not be prompted to install this since it should be installed as part of the operating system installation. If you are prompted to do so install DCOM95 and allow your system to reboot. Once rebooted reselect d:\line100w\disk1\setup A setup window appears informing you that the InstallShield Wizard is being prepared to guide you through the installation of your new program. The Software License Agreement window appears. 3. After reading the terms and conditions, to continue with the installation, choose the Yes button. If you want to quit the installation, choose the No button. If you have chosen to continue with the installation, there will be a brief pause while the setup searches for previously installed Sage software. The Welcome page appears. 4. To continue with the installation, choose the Next button. If you want to quit the installation, The Installation Type page appears. 5. Select the type of installation you require. If you are installing a network version, first perform a network server installation on the first client PC, and then perform the client installation at all other client PCs. Note: Keep a record detailing which PC was used to run the server installation. You will need this information if you need to uninstall your Line 100 program. 6. If you are installing a network version, enter the network server drive letter. The network drive letter is used to specify which drive to scan to check for existing installations. Use the same network drive letter you entered when installing the DOS program. 7. To continue with the installation, choose the Next button. If you want to quit the installation, The Program Paths page appears. 8. From the Program Paths page, enter the following information: Note: You can use the Browse buttons located next to the path text boxes to help you locate your paths easily. Logon Path This is the path to your System Manager file. Schema Path This is the path to your Retrieve files. Data Path This is the path to your data files. Spool Path This is the path to your Line 100 spooled reports. 9. To continue with the installation, choose the Next button. If you want to quit the installation, The Select Components page appears. 2

4 10. Select the components you want to install. Retrieve 4GL Select this component to install Retrieve 4GL for Windows (not applicable to all client installations) Accounts Menu Select this component to install the accounting system for Line 100 Windows. 11. To continue with the installation, choose the Next button. If you want to quit the installation, The Select Program Folder page appears. 12. If you do not want to install your program into the program folder shown, select an alternative from the Existing Folders list or type a new folder name in the Program Folders text box. Choose Next to continue. The Start Copying Files confirmation page appears. 13. To continue with the installation, choose the Next button. To change any of the details, choose the Back button. Sage Line 100 starts to install. You can stop the installation procedure at any time by choosing the Cancel button. The Setup Complete page appears. 14. It is necessary that you restart your computer before using Sage Line 100. Select the option to restart your computer now, or you can restart later before using Sage Line 100. For late breaking information about the program, we recommend that you read the readme file. 15. Choose the Finish button. You have installed your Sage Line 100 program. Before running your Sage Line 100 Windows program ensure that: - you have enabled your Line 100 DOS program - your user name and password are set up - if upgrading you have upgraded your data to the new version To complete the initialization process you should log into the System Manager as MANAGER, by running the program SVNMOSW.EXE, before using the Accounts Menu options. This also applies to all client installations. To run Sage Line 100 Windows: Click the Start button then point to Programs Point to the Sage Line 100 folder then click Accounts Menu. The Terms and Conditions window appears To accept the terms and conditions, click OK. The Logon window appears Enter your user name and password in the boxes provided then click OK. The Dataset window appears Select the dataset you require. If necessary enter the password for the dataset Click OK to continue. To cancel the logon click the Cancel button. 3

5 The Sage Line 100 main window appears. For details about how to use the Sage Line 100 program, see the chapter Working with Line 100 for Windows of the Windows System Manager Guide. Please note that Retrieve 4GL, Report Generator, Own Menu Creation, and the Stationery Layout Editor must all be used through DOS. 4
