8 8 THE FACULTY OF BUSINESS AND ACCOUNTANCY Business education in University of Malaya dates back to 1966 when the Faculty of Economics and Administration first o ered business and accounting courses. In line with the increasing demand for accounting and business programmes, the Faculty of Business and Accountancy (FBA) was subsequently established on 1st of February 1997 to focus on developing these programmes. FBA strives to meet the challenges of preparing students to play a vital role in industry and nation building. FBA seeks to remain at the forefront of business and accounting education and continues to enjoy the reputation as an excellent knowledge-based institution. The FBA comprises of five departments: Department of Business Policy and Strategy, Department of Finance and Banking, Department of Accounting, Department of Marketing, and Department of Operations and Management Information Systems Currently, the FBA o ers five successful programmes. Three programmes are o ered at the postgraduate level, and two programmes are o ered at the undergraduate level. The programmes at the post graduate level are Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Management (MM) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). Meanwhile the undergraduate programmes are Bachelor of Business and Administration (BBA) and Bachelor of Accounting (BAcc). The FBA is the only business school in the country that has been awarded the 4 PALMES by EDUNIVERSAL. The award recognises the faculty s strong international influence. The FBA also received accreditation by Association of MBAs (AMBA) which is the international authority on postgraduate business education. That goes to our undergraduate accounting degrees as well, that provide a high level of exemption from the professional examination requirements including ACCA, CPA Australia, CIMA, ICAEW and MICPA. As part of our e orts to strengthen our programmes, the FBA collaborates with various business organisations and government agencies. In addition, there are several faculty members who are a liated or advisers to several large corporations, such as the Public Bank Berhad and EON Bank Berhad and professional establishments, such as the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), Malaysian Accounting Standards Board (MASB) and Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA). Thong is a Chair Professor and Head of the Department of Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management (ISOM), at the School of Business and Management, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He received his Ph.D. in Information Systems from the National University of Singapore. His research on technology adoption, human computer interaction, computer ethics, and IT in small business has appeared in Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Journal of MIS, Journal of the AIS, Decision Support Systems, European Journal of Information Systems, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, and Information Systems Journal, among others. He has served or is serving as an associate editor for Information Systems Research and MIS Quarterly. In 2011, he received the ISR Best Associate Editor Award from INFORMS Information Systems Assoc Prof Dr. Darshana Sedera leads the Enterprise Systems study group. He is an associate professor at the Queensland University of Technology and has served as an academic for the past 9 years. He has over 60 publications to his credit on topics related to Enterprise Systems, Knowledge Management, Supply Chain Management. His publications appeared in several journals and conferences. Highlights include publications at the Journal of the Association for Information Systems, the Journal of Strategic Information Systems and Journal of IT Case Studies. His 2010 publication at the Journal of Strategic Information Systems is one of the top-10 most downloaded papers from Elsevier Publications. Prof Dr. K.K Wei is a Chair Professor of Information Systems at the College of Business at the City University of Hong Kong. He was Dean (2007 to 2012) of the College of Business and the Head ( ) of the Department of Information Systems. He is Fellow of the Association of Information Systems (AIS) and he was the President of that Association in 2003/4. He has served as Senior Editor of MIS Quarterly and Associate Editor of Information Systems Research. He has also played major roles in ICIS and PACIS. Dr Wei has published more than 150 journal and conference papers. Based on Social Science Citation Index, his works have been cited over 2050 times and h-index is 22. He is actively pursuing research on e-commerce, knowledge management and supply chain management systems.
19 Faculty of Business and Accountancy University of Malaya 19 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) 2014/2015 VISITING PROFESSORS AND LECTURERS VISITING ACADEMICS, RESEARCH FELLOWS/ASSOCIATES AND ADJUNCT PROFESSOR DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS POLICY AND STRATEGY Prof Dr Jane Elisabeth Klobas is a researcher and advisor who teaches and coaches doctoral students and faculty, internationally, in research methods and writing for publication. She has a PhD in Psychology from the University of Western Australia. Dr. Klobas is the Alberto Dondena Fellow in the Dondena Centre, and a Fellow of the Centre for Arts, Science and Knowledge, at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy. During 2013, she is an Academic Icon Professor at the University of Malaya. She is also a Visiting Professor at the University of Bergamo, and an Adjunct Professor at Murdoch University in Western Australia. She was the Principal Investigator for study of fertility decision making in the Reproductive Decision Making in a Macro-Micro Environment (REPRO) project. She is author or co-author of more than 150 scholarly works, several of which apply the theory of planned behavior to decision-making in di erent Prof Dr. Mahfooz A. Ansari is a Professor of International Management and Human Resources Management (HRM) & Organizational Studies at the University of Lethbridge (U of L), Canada. He is currently an Area Chair of HRM & Organizational Studies. Prior to his current academic rank of professor at U of L, he held faculty positions at several other academic institutions including the University Science Malaysia, the UIA International University Malaysia, the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, the University of Magadh, and A. N. S. Institute of Social Studies Patna. He also held visiting professorship position at several places including Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, King Abdul Aziz Univesity Jeddah, UIA International University Malaysia, University of Malaya Malaysia, University of Technology MARA Malaysia, and the University of Calicut. Prof Dr. Mark Harcourt has studied workplace happenings in some of New Zealand s best-known organisations turnover at the Bank of New Zealand, stress at the Reserve Bank, commitment at the Police and Fire Services, and occupational over-use syndrome at BRANZ. Mark leads the IBR s Human Resource Management Research Group, and his research interests include discrimination and human rights legislation, employment tribunal and court decisions, health and safety in the workplace, and occupational health and safety.

His research interest focuses on understanding the judgment and decision making processes of preparers, users, and financial intermediaries of accounting information, and how institutional and environmental features influence such judgments and decisions. His work is characterized by the use of psychological theories and experimentation to gain insights into fundamental accounting issues. He is currently editor of Accounting, Organizations and Society, and was former Associate Editor of Contemporary Accounting Research and Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory. He has served on various AAA committees, including the AAA Council, the AAA s Notable Contributions to Accounting Literature Award Screening Committee, Auditing Section s Research Committee, Research Advisory Committee, and the Notable Contribution to Auditing Literature Committee. Mr Nik Mohd Hasyudeen Yuso is the Executive Chairman of the Audit Oversight Board (AOB) and past President of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. He is also a member of the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board (MASB), the Vice-President of the Asean Federation of Accountants (AFA), a member of the Executive Committee and Strategy Committee of the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants as well as a member of CPA Australia s Public Practice Advisory Committee. Nik is a member of the National Professional Services Export Council and represents MIA in negotiations at the Asean Coordination Committee on Services, World Trade Organisation and Free Trade Agreements. He is also a member of the Operation Review Panel of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and the Bursa Malaysia Listing Committee. DEPARTMENT OF MARKETING Prof Dr. T.C. Melewar is Professor of Marketing and Strategy and Head of Marketing at Brunel Business School, Brunel University, UK. He has previous experience at Warwick Business School, MARA Institute of Technology in Malaysia, Loughborough University and De Montfort University, UK. TC teaches Marketing Management, Marketing Communications and International Marketing on a range of undergraduate, MBA, and executive courses.
