2 6th Of June Press Declaration Of TSF On ESF 2010 On 6 th Of June 2009, Social Forum Of Turkey components organized a small demonstration in Pangalti Square Istanbul, in order to declare the preparations of European Social Forum 2010 will be held in Istanbul. A press declaration read by Mehmet Soganci, President of Union Of Chambers Of Turkish Engineers and Architects. You can find the translation of his speech below; We are coming from trade unions, profession chambers, social movements, woman organizations, environmental organizations and anti war movement. Even though we are coming from very different backgrounds and places, we have one common point; we are aware that neoliberalism, capitalism, economic crisis, ecological crisis, imperialist wars, legitimize exploitation and injustice and threatens the societies, earth, nature, human life and we see that the danger is growing every day. We are the ones who are exploited, oppressed, abused at the work, home or streets; we are the ones who die in the wars. We are also the ones who resist. We are united in our struggle against neoliberalism, capitalism, ecological destruction, sexism. Our number is not limited with the ones here, we are in the every corner of the world and there are millions of us and since first World Social Mehmet Soğancı President Union Of Chambers Of Turkish Engineers And Architects Forum in 2001 we come together in different parts of the world, and discuss our alternatives and share our struggle experiences with each other. We have joined the ESF in Athens with more than a thousand people from Turkey, after that we have joined the Malmö ESF in 2008 again with a crowded delegation and discussed how to fight against our common enemy with our European brothers and sisters and exchanged our struggle experiences. Now it is our turn, in June of 2010 we will search for the ways of making another world possible here in Istanbul with thousands of our friends from all our the Europe. We will share experiences and try to unite our struggles with our European friends on meeting in tens of different topics. We, as the trade unions, profession chambers, youth organizations, women organizations, environmental organizations and various social movements here and who will join us now on declare our will to organize an open and inclusive European Social Forum together. We invite all the workers, oppressed people of the world and people who carries a passion for Another World in their hearts and their organization to walk this road with us.
3 Call to Organize ESF 2010 As components of the Social Forum of Turkey, which are trade unions, profession chambers, political organizations, democratic mass organizations and social movements, we are preparing to host the European Social Forum to be organized in Istanbul at June For long years we are together monitoring the World Social Forum and the European Social Forum which are the meeting points for searching an another world against wars, social injustice, discrimination, racism, oppression and destruction of nature. Our representatives joined the WSF meetings in the last years. We hosted European Preparation Assembly meetings in Turkey. We joined the ESF meetings with a mass participation. Upon the request of Social Forum of Turkey, in the EPA meetings, it was unanimously decided to organize the ESF 2010 in Istanbul. We struggled together against the privatization of public services, occupations in the Middle East, deadlock in Kurdish problem, deaths of the workers in dockyards, commercialization of water, violence against women, censor to media, unidentified murders, isolation in prison, urban transformation, environmental disasters and violation of trade union and labor rights. We developed a common struggle and discussion culture. We will host the social movements of Europe and organizations that are in favor of labor, democracy and freedom in Istanbul in We believe that the European Social Forum in Istanbul, is an important opportunity for the social movements which are active in Turkey in order to meet with their corresponding organizations at the international level and to share their experiences. We would like to again declare that as being the Social Forum of Turkey, we will carry on our activities and all preparations through ESF 2010 Istanbul by respecting the principle of democratic participation as well as by operating an open and transparent process for all concerned parts.
