Ryan. 08/2010 Lecturer and Research Collaboration, Department of Mathematics, Mzuzu University, Malawi, by Prof. John A. Ryan. Scientific Collaborations Research Collaboration, Doc. Riccardo Aragona (Trento), Prof. Edoardo Ballico (Trento), Doc. Michela Ceria (Turin), Prof. Claudio Fontanari (Trento), Doc. Emmanuela Orsini (Bristol, England), Doc. Marco Pellegrini (Florence), Prof. John A. Rayan (Mzuzu, Malawi), Prof. Margherita Roggero (Turin), Prof. Massimiliano Sala (Trento). Research Fields Research interests Coding Theory, Commutative Algebra, Computer Algebra, Cryptography, Finite Field, Number Theory. In particular, in my master thesis and during my Ph.D. I specialized in the theory of affine-variety codes, using geometrical and algebraic methods such as the proprieties of Norm Trace curves and Gröbner bases theory of zero-dimensional ideal. Recently my research focused on fully homomorphic encryption and I led the Cloud Security Team at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Trento. During this period I collaborated on industrial projects with the company TELSY S.p.A. Research Topics Hermitian curve and Hermitian codes, In [1,2,7] we analyze all Hermitian codes that have d q and we obtain geometric characterizations for smallweight codewords for those codes, that is, the minimum-weight words lie in the intersection between a line and the Hermitian curve. By these results we obtained explicit formulas which permits us to determine the number of minimum-weight codewords. In [12] we generalized the geometrical results for minimum weight codewords of Hermitian codes that have distance d > q. Whereas in [11] we study the locally recoverable codes on algebraic curves providing a bound of generalized Hamming weight of these codes. Moreover, using the property of Hermitian codes, we improve some known bounds regarding the distance of Hermitian LRC codes. Furthermore in [4], we provided a complete classification of intersections between Hermitian curve and any parabola y = ax 2 + bx + c where a 0 and a, b, c F q 2. Decoding Affine-Variety codes, The general error locator polynomials {L i } 1 i m are necessary to decode any codes. In fact, if for any i we evaluate L i in the received syndromes, we found roots which denote the error positions. In [5] we give a constructive method (using Buchberger-Möller Theorem modified) to obtain a set of general error locator polynomials for affine-variety codes. Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE), In [3] we compute two bounds on the size of the secret key for the FHE scheme over the integers of van Dijk et al. (DGHV scheme) to decrypt correctly a ciphertext after a fixed number of additions and a fixed number of multiplication. Moreover we improve the original bound on the dimension of the secret key for any arithmetic function over F 2. 2/6
3 Attribute Base Encryption (ABE), In [6,10] we propose two multi-authority key-policy ABE systems. In the firstcase, the authorities may be set up in any moment and without any coordination. In the second system, the authorities are allowed to collaborate to achieve shorter keys and parameters, enhancing the efficiency of encryption and decryption. Publications [1] C. Marcolla, M.
