1 30 th Annual Southern California Public Interest/Public Sector Career Day SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 7, :00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. UCLA SCHOOL OF LAW OVERVIEW UCLA School of Law is pleased to host the 30 th Annual Southern California Public Interest/Public Sector Career Day. While held at UCLA School of Law, the Career Day is cosponsored by the Southern California-area law schools California Western, Chapman, La Verne, Loyola, Pepperdine, Southwestern, Thomas Jefferson, UC Irvine, UCLA, University of San Diego, University of Southern California, Western State and Whittier. The annual Career Day is designed to expose law students to the practice of law in the public interest and to encourage students to consider a public interest career path. More than 110 nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and private firms are expected to participate in Career Day activities. Public Interest Career Day is comprised of a number of different activities: Prescheduled, formal interviews for summer and/or postgraduate positions. Informal "table-talk," with representatives of the participating organizations, agencies and firms. A series of informal lunchtime discussions, each focusing on a different substantive area of public interest practice (e.g., children and youth, environmental law, labor law), as well as a lunchtime discussion focusing on postgraduate fellowships and the fellowship application process. An afternoon panel discussion, "Criminal Law: Prosecution and Defense". For Students: REGISTRATION Attendance on Saturday, February 7 th is open to all students from the cosponsoring law schools, as well as to students from law schools outside Southern California. Please note, however, that only students from the cosponsoring schools are eligible to participate in the prescheduled, formal interviews. There is no need to preregister and there is no registration fee. For Organizations, Agencies and Firms: While registration for conducting interviews is now closed, registration remains open through Wednesday, February 4, for participation in other aspects of the Day. If you would like to participate or have any questions, please contact: Catherine Mayorkas Director, Public Interest Programs UCLA School of Law (310) Mayorkas@law.ucla.edu PARTICIPATING ORGANIZATIONS, AGENCIES AND FIRMS Entities Participating in Table-Talk (9:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. [with lunchtime break from 12:30 1:30 p.m.]) AFL-CIO Lawyers Coordinating Committee Alliance for Children's Rights Anti-Defamation League Asian Americans Advancing Justice Los Angeles Asian Pacific American Dispute Resolution Center Bet Tzedek Legal Services California Agricultural Labor Relations Board, Office of General Counsel California Department of Business Oversight, Enforcement Division California Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General, Various Divisions
