1 2015 WAAAUB Standing Committees members Biographies Outreach Committee: Lebanon Jinane Boutros Abi Ramia (BS 11, MPH 14); Outreach Coordinator, Balsam, since 2014; Researcher, Integrity Research and Consultancy, 2014; Research Assistant, FHS-AUB, 2013; Treasurer, Graduate Student Society, 2014; Elected Member, Student Representative, 2013; Vice President, USFC, 2014; Emergency Medical Technician, Lebanese Red Cross Spears, ; Member, AUB Secular Club, Committee Member, GPHP-AUB, AUB is one of the most prestigious universities in the Middle East, producing leaders and pioneers worldwide. It is time for us to give it back. I want to promote networking among alumni and preserve the University s standard of excellence. Bassem Hassan El-Bawab (BBA 96, MBA 99); General Manager, Rafic Bawab & Co. S.A.L., since 1996; Part-time Instructor, AUB, since 2008; General Manager, Bawab Real Estate S.A.L., since 2013;Vice President, Syndicate of Tyre Importers; Member of Board of Directors, Beirut Traders Association. I am proud to serve WAAAUB and have many qualifications for doing so. Dima Jamali Fadel (BA 93) Professor AUB, since 2010; Associate Professor, AUB, ; Senior Lecturer, University of Southhampton, ; MA, San Jose State, 1998; PhD, University of Kent at Canterbury, 2001; Board Member, Digital Opportunities Trust. AUB is my alma mater, my employer, my favorite academic institution, and I would like to contribute and make a difference. Zahi G. Khalaf (BA 53) President, International College of Dentists, 1996; Dentists, Private Dental Practice, 1961; BDS, Edinburgh University, I was educated at AUB. I spent the most memorable years of my life there. Our family, beginning with my father, has been connected to AUB for many years. MENA Zeina Ali Ahmad (BS 85, MS 87); Country Director for Jordan, UNDP, since 2012; Deputy Representative, UNDP, ; Policy Advisor, Regional Center for Arab States, ; MS, University of London, I am an AUB alumna and believe that AUB has a role to play in the development of the region, especially during these volatile times.

I am very proud of my alma mater and all my children are AUB graduates. I believe that with my long experience and knowledge gained from working for well-known, reputable global organizations, I will be in a position to contribute to the continued success and prosperity of AUB. I also want to promote critical thinking within the community. 3 Chapters Committee: Lebanon Soubhie Baassiri (TD 94) Freelance Fashion Designer; English Lecturer, Lebanese American University, ; English Instructor, Al Qalaa School, ; BS, Lebanese University, 1990; Programs Committee Member, WAAAUB; Member, Science and Culture Foundation; Member, Orphans of Saida; Member, Dar Al Islam for Elderly. I have always been interested in working for the public welfare. I have been volunteering for more than twenty years with many different organizations, including Orphans of Saida, Dar Islam for Elderly, the Science and Culture Foundation, and WAAAUB. I have lots of energy and ideas and am eager to help. I am emotionally attached to AUB and WAAAUB and consequently passionate to serve. Maryam M. Dokmak (BBA 12); Accountant, AUB, since I want to serve WAAAUB because I would like to ensure the continuous engagement of fellow alumni in AUB's events and activities, which will help tighten the bonds between AUB and its alumni. Andre Pierre Haddad (BS 89, BBA 91); Managing Partner, Haddad Group Ltd., 2009; Head of Private Banking, UAE, Qatar, Oman & Yemen, Arab Bank, 2008, Unit Head, Private Banking, National Bank of Kuwait, 2006; MBA, University of San Francisco, Having been part of this community, a sense of belonging is always there. I met my wife at AUB and we always take our three daughters for campus visits. AUB gave me more than an education, it gave me a way of life and it gave the region hope. AUB opened a lot of doors for me. I had the chance to be involved in many national and international NGOs, as well as social and educational programs. I believe AUB alumni play an important role in their communities and I would like to serve with them. Namek (BEN 90); President, RYN Engineers LLC, since 2015; Director of Engineering, TSS, ; Associate Mechanical Engineer, RTKL Associates Inc., ; President, WAAAUB Baltimore Chapter, ; Member, American Society of Heating Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineers, for 21 years; MEA, Virginia Tech, I am a third generation AUB graduate. AUB s culture has deeply influenced my character. I want that same culture to continue to influence other young kids, especially during these difficult times. Dialara B. AUB has shaped my thinking as both a professional and a human being, which is why I want to serve my alma mater as a council member and play an active role on boards and committees.

Patricia Sfeir (BS 97); Programs Manager, Social Economic and Environment Development Services International, since 2012; Executive Director, INDYACT, 2014; Agriculture and Environment Department Manager, YMCA- Lebanon, I want to promote AUB s development and engage alumni. I am proud of its history and the achievements of its alumni. My volunteering stems from a desire to strengthen ties between the university and its alumni. I have contributed a great deal to the Chapter and I believe I can serve WAAAUB with the support of alumni and friends thanks to my experience and dedication.

I want to thank AUB for this. I have to add that my recent experience with the WAAAUB Leadership, made me appreciate the dynamics that help a chapter succeed in its mission. Tania Shaheen (BS 94); Owner, Tania Shaheen Interiors, since 2010; Committee Member, WAAAUB Houston Chapter, for 3 years; Committee Member, LAU Alumni, for 3 years; BA, Lebanese American University, I feel that it is the duty of every alumnus and alumna to serve his or her alma mater. Our relationship with AUB lasts a lifetime and must be nourished and treasured. More than ever the world needs AUB to step up in bringing about tolerance and peace through education and dialogue. I would like to help.

I owe a great deal of my personal and professional success to AUB. I gained confidence and determination as well. AUB determined my life path. I want to serve with WAAAUB to give back. Having helped setup and revived several chapters, successfully lead one chapter, and having been involved in WAAAUB governance and the planning of major WAAAUB initiatives, I am confident I can add value to the organization in the upcoming term. My time with WAAAUB reinforced my belief in our alumni community and the message of our alma mater.
