1 Consultation on Canada's International Education Strategy In Budget 2011, the Government of Canada announced funding for the development and implementation of an international education strategy that will reinforce Canada as a country of choice to study and conduct world-class research. The budget also called for the establishment of an advisory panel reporting to the Ministers of International Trade and Finance to make recommendations on the strategy and to set out the contributions of all partners. To support the work of the Advisory Panel on Canada s International Education Strategy, the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT) would like you, as a stakeholder in the education sector in Canada, to submit your views and feedback on six key topics of discussion. We invite you to share your views on any or all of the following areas of interest: 1. Recruitment of international college and university students (undergraduate) 2. Recruitment of international graduate students and researchers 3. Institutional partnerships with foreign institutions (e.g. joint degrees and international exchanges) 4. Sale and lease of curriculum 5. Establishment of Canadian offshore campuses 6. The Advisory Panel on Canada s International Education Strategy is consulting with Canadians to make recommendations on an international education strategy that will reinforce Canada as a country of choice to study and conduct world-class research. The information requested is collected under the authority of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Act for the purpose of providing stakeholder perspectives to the Advisory Panel to support the development of recommendations. Individuals to whom the personal information pertains have the right to the protection of, and access to, their personal information under the Privacy Act subject to certain exceptions and exemptions. Personal information is described as any information related to an identifiable individual. For additional details on the definition of personal information, please refer to Section 3 at The personal information collected (i.e. name, title, , organization and opinions) will only be used as a point of contact as submissions are made on behalf of the organization and not as an individual contribution. No personal information should be included in the "free text" fields of the questionnaire. Your personal information may be shared with a third party contracted for the purpose of compiling a report on the submissions to the Advisory Panel. Information may also be shared with the Department of Finance as the Advisory Panel will report to the Ministers of both International Trade and Finance. Your personal information will not be used for a secondary purpose or administrative decision, and will not be organized or retrieved by a name or other personal identifier. Personal information collected will be retained by DFAIT for a maximum of 5 years and then destroyed.
