1 Dawn Markling Marist College 30 June 2013 Survey Title: Music Purchase vs. Free Download Population Size: Teenagers and Young Adults, aged 15-29, throughout the United States Sample Size: 2500 Respondents Sample Selection: The sample respondents will be randomly chosen from select high schools, trade schools, technical schools, and colleges throughout the states of New York, California, Florida, Texas, Illinois, Tennessee, and Alabama. The schools will be randomly chosen from the Department of Education s listings of high schools and colleges within those listed states. These states have been chosen to represent the entire United States population, because these seven states hold the majority of the teenaged and young adult population, according to the US Census Bureau s data from Survey Length: 4 Pages Time Length: Approximately 12 Minutes

The information will be used to create new ways to download music over a variety of online sources. In addition, the information will be used to increase the amount of music that is downloadable through multiple sources. 1. Do you own an ipod, ipad, MP3 Player, Smart Phone, Tablet, Computer, or any other electronic device that is capable of playing and downloading music? (If No, please skip to question 17.) 2. How many songs do you have on your electronic device? A. Under 250 B C D. Over 1000 E. I Don t Know 3. If somebody wants a song that is available for purchase, but that person decides to download that song for free, instead of paying for it. In your opinion, is this okay to do? (Using the word okay does not mean legal or illegal.) 4. Have you ever downloaded music without paying for it, when that same music was available for purchase? (If No, please skip to question 10.) 5.
