SCHOLARSHIP: Kids Chance of Washington Scholarship REQUIREMENTS: Kids Chance of Washington is a need-based scholarship program for the dependent children and spouses of workers killed or seriously disabled in a workplace accident in Washington. This scholarship is available to spouses or children of injured Washington workers whose injury, while at work in Washington State, resulted in a permanent inability to return to work (a pension under the claim) or death. See website for details. SCHOLARSHIP: Passport to College REQUIREMENTS: The Passport to College Promise Scholarship program helps students from foster care prepare for and succeed in college. Through Passport, students receive a scholarship that assists with the cost of attending college, specialized support services from college staff, and priority consideration for the State Need Grant and State Work Study programs. 4 SCHOLARSHIP: Lake Stevens Lions Club Community Service Scholarship April 24, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: Rewarding students graduating from Lake Stevens High School who are seeking higher education and have shown a heart for community service. Students who have shown a desire to serve their Lake Stevens community, or the greater community, by sustained dedication to a project or activity will be given high consideration for these scholarships. Wineman Freshman Scholarship April 28, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: Scholarships are available to any male student who will be attending the University of Washington beginning the Fall of This scholarship is being presented by Phi Kappa Psi, membership to or a commitment of membership in Phi Kappa Psi is not a requirement to win the scholarship. SCHOLARSHIP: Lake Stevens Arts Commission April 30, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: The Lake Stevens Arts Commission is offering a student scholarship to any graduating Lake Stevens High School senior interested in continuing their education. This scholarship is in recognition of a student exceling in the arts and maintaining a solid academic record with a desire to continue their education. Applicants must have a 3.0 or higher GPA to qualify. See application for details. SCHOLARSHIP: Jill L. Renshaw Human Services Academic Scholarship April 30, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: All candidates must: be graduating seniors at Lake Stevens High School; be of satisfactory academic standing Have a history of active involvement in school and community activities; be planning to attend an academically accredited four-year college or university; be committed to improving the human condition. In determining a candidate s fitness, consideration will be given to academics, involvement in school and community activities, and, most importantly, to a candidate s demonstrated commitment to improving the human condition. SCHOLARSHIP: Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #1561 April 30, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria: you must verify you have a parent or grandparent who is a U. S. military veteran of a foreign war; you must be a graduating high school senior or college undergraduate student.; award applicants must provide verification of acceptance/enrollment in college or university at interview. SCHOLARSHIP: Lake Stevens Kiwanis Scholarship May 1, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: Kiwanis International is a global organization of members of every age committed to changing the world, one child, one community at a time. Each year, the Lake Stevens Kiwanis Chapter awards up to $10,000 for academic and career and technical education scholarships. These awards are usually $2000 per scholarship, and Kiwanis generally awards both academic scholarships and career/technical education scholarships. This year Kiwanis will be awarding four $2,000. The award is for the year following graduation and all Lake Stevens High School graduates pursuing education after high school are encouraged to apply. Conditions of Eligibility: graduate of LSHS; demonstrated need of financial assistance to continue with post-secondary education; applicant is in satisfactory scholastic standing and recognized as a good citizen; applicant has demonstrated a commitment to community service. See application for details. SCHOLARSHIP: Jo Derosier Memorial Scholarship May 1, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: Any graduating 2015 senior from Lake Stevens High School may apply. The Jo Derosier Memorial Scholarship is sponsored by the Friends of Jo Derosier and is intended to aid a graduating senior each year with her or her post-high school education. Jo Derosier, as many from Lake Stevens will recall, was a Lake Stevens High School student who was tragically killed in 2001 as she began her senior year. The Jo Derosier Scholarship is intended to assist a student who has achieved (as Jo herself did) a great deal despite challenging personal circumstances. This year s scholarship award is for $1000. SCHOLARSHIP: ANDEO Summer Abroad May 1, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: Live with a welcoming host family in Costa Rica, Ecuador, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Nicaragua, or Spain for 2 to 6 weeks during the summer. 5 SCHOLARSHIP: LSHS Community and Lenora Rindero Scholarship May 1, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: 3 different scholarships are available with one application for graduating LSHS seniors. The Dr. Peter Jensen is $125 award students planning on attending an accredited school or college; The Flavia Van Dyke is a $500 award for an LSHS graduating senior who is recognized as a good citizen, has a GPA of 3.2 or higher, taken a college prep curriculum at LSHS is committed to a musiceducation major, proven musical talent and have the determination and drive necessary to follow through to completion of a BA degree. The Lenora Rindero Scholarship is $1,000 award for a Lake Stevens High School graduating senior who possess an excellent academic career and is dedicated to furthering his or her knowledge by attending a four your college or university. See application for details. SCHOLARSHIP: Everett Community College-Academic Excellence Award May 8, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: LSHS may nominate 1 (one) student for this award. SCHOLARSHIP: The Robert Marshall - Lake Stevens Fire Fighters Scholarship-Local 3235/Firefighters Association May 15, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: Minimum Requirement: 3.00 GPA; Special consideration will be given to students that have family members that are affiliated with the fire service, career or volunteer, students seeking a Fire Science degree, students seeking a degree in health services, and /or students attending a trade school. SCHOLARSHIP: Lake Stevens HS Senior Scholar Award May 15, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: The Senior Scholar Award is offered by the faculty every year to LSHS seniors who have exhibited both the highest levels of academic achievement and the greatest resourcefulness in taking advantage of the opportunities the school has offered. It is the only scholarship offered at the graduation ceremony. See application for details. SCHOLARSHIP: Crystalite Employees Foundation Academic Scholarship May 15, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: Scholarships will be awarded for $500 each. Must follow the following edibility requirements: applicant must show that they have volunteered in their community and show how they have made a difference in their community; be a graduating high school and continuing their education at school for higher learning; complete an application. SCHOLARSHIP: U-Turn Scholarship May 29, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: This award is given at graduation to the LSHS senior who, according to the judgment of the selection committee began their secondary experience at Lake Stevens High School with very shaky grades, attendance, attitude, and behavior. We have many students on our campus who, because of a kind word by a staff member, or because they have some sudden epiphany decide to turn their academic lives around and be successful. We are looking to recognize that type of student. One who has turned it around and is now ready to go on to post-secondary education where it was inconceivable for them just a few years ago. SCHOLARSHIP: Pacific Northwest Tool Collectors Scholarship June 1, 2015 REQUIREMENTS: Applicants will be students pursuing vocational or career education programs that lead to employment in trades and careers that make hands-on use of traditional tools similar to those collected by the members of PNTC. The training programs like those supported by this scholarship often are available in community and technical colleges, are usually 1 to 2 years in length, and usually lead to Associate s Degrees or certificates of completion.
