Revised the Disciplinary Code to make practice consistent, transparent, and legal, and established annual publication of the Code in the Student Handbook. With the Registrar, established, wrote and annually publish updated Academic Advisors Compendium of Facts. Advocated for full-time Director of Multicultural Affairs & support staff & essential increases in staffing for Health Services and Student Development and Counseling. Successfully applied for US Treasury Dept license to allow RISD to offer Wintersession study courses in Cuba for four years: team-taught three of these courses. As Associate Provost, chaired the team which successfully negotiated contracts with the Full-Time and Part-Time Faculty associations, chaired the Operating Budget Committee, helped in the development of the Campus Master Plan, and the 1996 NASAD and NEASC accreditation. As Dean of Liberal Arts, changed the full-time to part-time faculty ratio to provide a more stable and coherent Liberal Arts curriculum, and move it from being a "service division" to an important academic core. Increased Liberal Arts graduation requirement from 36 to 42 credits (out of 120) and set up distribution rules. Increased the number of Liberal Arts offerings at RISD from 120 to 190 courses per year, greatly strengthening studies in history and social science. Reduced full-time faculty teaching load from 7 to 6 courses per year. Helped to establish the Wintersession travel program which gives students
6 the opportunity to study abroad. Established a performance based experimental cabaret which involved students directly in the arts and culture of specifically selected historical periods. Community Service Chair, Visiting Committee to the Art Department of Vanderbilt University Board member, Providence Latin American Film Festival.
