3 Community Rehabilitation Team We offer treatment and support to people with a primary diagnosis of Psychosis. Early Intervention Service We treat people aged between years of age, experiencing their first episode of psychosis, or those who are in the first three years of psychotic illness. 2

The EIS offers treatment including: Administration of anti-psychotic medicines Cognitive behaviour therapy for psychosis and emotional problems, including depression and anxiety Family interventions Vocational recovery Relapse prevention A harm minimisation approach to substance misuse People aged between years of age, experiencing their first episode of psychosis, or those who are in the first three years of psychotic illness, living in Enfield. 5 A range of treatment, from medication prescribing and monitoring to therapeutic support and counselling provided by a range of professionals, such as child psychotherapists, Family Therapists and Clinical Psychologists. Consultation, advice and support to professionals from a wide range of children s services, parents and carers. Specialist teams providing assessment, support and treatment to children and young people with combined mental health problems and learning disability. Specialist, borough based adolescent teams working with young people aged between 12 and 18 with severe and complex mental health difficulties. Support to hospital based paediatric services. The service is for children and young people aged from 0-18 years and their families. This may include babies, children and young people with a wide range of mental health problems, disorders and illnesses, who require the help of a multi-disciplinary mental health service. The types of problems we help with include: Emotional difficulties such as anxiety, depression, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder and school refusal Behavioural problems such as aggression, delinquency, unmanageable behaviour and hyperactivity Eating and feeding disorders Severe psychiatric illness such as psychosis Self-harm or risk of self-harm (please note that all those who have taken overdoses should be taken to the local A& E department) Trauma including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and trauma following abuse Sleeping, feeding and behavioural difficulties in under 5's that result in severe disruption of family life and development Referrals are accepted from schools, social care services, youth centres, youth offending, GPs and other health and social care professionals. Enfield IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapy We help people manage and overcome anxiety and depression through high quality psychological therapies. On our team we have the following types of therapists: Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs) who are skilled at helping people find practical ways to manage their difficulties. Methods used include guided self-help, stress management skills, computerised cognitive behavioural therapy and psycho-education groups CBT therapists who are trained to deliver individual and group cognitive behavioural therapy 4

6 Counsellors who are trained to provide an opportunity to talk about day to day difficulties as well as difficulties from the past. This mental health service is collaboration between Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust and Whittington Health. We offer high quality psychological therapies for people with mild problems of depression anxiety or chronic stress, to help them manage and overcome these problems in the local community. People aged 16 years or more who are experiencing common mental health problems such as depression, anxiety and stress living in Barnet. We also treat the following anxiety disorders: Generalised Anxiety Disorder Social Anxiety Panic Disorder Agoraphobia Specific Phobias Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Health Anxiety Inclusion Criteria: GP based in Haringey, Edmonton or Barnet Depressive or Anxiety Disorder We are not able to work with: Primary drug or alcohol problems HAGA/DASH/BDAS Acute psychotic symptoms step 4 BEHMHT Significant risk of acting on suicidal thoughts step 4 BEHMHT Personality Disorders step 4 BEHMHT People can refer themselves directly. We offer a range of therapeutic, culturally sensitive and person centred care to support recovery and a return to the community as soon as possible. Older adults aged 65 and over with mental health problems such as dementia, depression and psychotic illnesses who cannot be treated and supported appropriately at home or in an alternative setting. What are the next stages to recovery Following discharge from the ward patients could return home with an individualised care package if required, a period of Day Hospital attendance, follow up by the old age consultant in the Outpatient Clinic and/or involvement of the Community Mental Health Team or Dementia Home Treatment Team. For patients who are not able to return to their own home, assistance is offered prior to discharge to identify suitable alternative accommodation. Flexible packages of attendance are available including full days, mornings or afternoon sessions. An outreach service is also available. Group programmes at the Hawthorn Centre support recovery by providing opportunities to: Express thoughts and feelings Learn coping strategies Regain confidence to achieve everyday activities Raise energy levels and motivation Improve physical well being Gain emotional support People aged 65 and over with a primary diagnosis of a functional mental illness such as depression or schizophrenia who could have social and behavioural difficulties and be in need of regular supervision, but who do not need admission to an inpatient ward. What are the next stages to recovery Following discharge from the Day Service, patients may continue to attend community based Day Services. Follow up can also be offered by the old age consultant in the Outpatient Clinic and/or involvement of the Community Mental Health Team. Any professional within community mental health teams can refer to Day Services. Additional Information Service users referred are expected to attend an initial assessment to judge suitability for the programme. Avon Ward Avon ward is an intensive care unit and provides 16 male beds for patients who need more complex care. 11 Patients whose behaviour may be too challenging for an acute ward. Service users on Avon will move back to the acute wards as their mental health improves. What are the next stages to recovery When an inpatient no longer requires PICU they will be transferred back to acute wards. Staff will then work with patients to facilitate discharge at the earliest opportunity. Home treatment teams will provide additional support to patients after discharge, alongside the care coordinator. All in patient wards and judicial system can refer to PICU. The home treatment team will carry out an assessment and wherever appropriate will provide intensive support for a limited period within the service user s home. They will work closely with care coordinators to ensure that care is offered within the least restrictive environment. If the clinical risks indicate that admission is required then home treatment teams are the gatekeepers of the inpatient beds and will arrange an admission within either one of the assessment wards or in the case of service users well known to services that already have a clear treatment plan, one of the acute wards. People in acute mental health crisis living in Barnet, Enfield or Haringey aged 16 and over The service line accepts referrals from the community teams, from the primary care mental health teams and from the intake service when it is indicated that someone is in an acute mental health crisis and may need admission to an acute bed. Recovery Houses We offer short-term support to people in crisis living on Barnet, Enfield and Haringey. Enfield 12

What we do We support people who need short-term support for mental health problems, by providing a therapeutic and person centred approach to support recovery. The Recovery Houses provide a home from home environment, with communal kitchens and lounges as well as quiet rooms and small gardens. How to access the service Access to the recovery houses are given to people who live in Barnet Enfield and Haringey who have been referred through the mental health Home Treatment Team. We are open 24 hours, 7 days a week, 52 weeks of the year. This could include referral within the Trust for interventions such as psychological therapy, medication management or referral to local statutory or charitable agencies. People with mental health problems living in Enfield aged 16 and over. People are mostly referred by their GP, although referrals can be made by outside agencies such as social services, housing or other support services. Service users cannot refer themselves directly, however if a service user or their carer/relative believes they require the service, they can arrange to discuss it with their GP who will then forward a referral to the service. Avesbury House Is part of the North London Forensic Service, provides care and rehabilitation for patients who have been in conditions of security, progressing into the community, but continue to require 24 hour nursing care. 13

This specialist resource is an independent hospital functioning as a low secure unit run by Care UK in partnership with North London Forensic Service. The 24 bedrooms are arranged as five flats. Avesbury House is to provide care and rehabilitation for patients who have been in conditions of security who are consolidating their progress as they move towards the community, but continue to require 24 hour nursing care SAFE- Service for Adolescents & Families in Enfield We provide treatment and support to young people aged between 12 and 18 with mental health, behavioural and emotional well-being needs. Complex Care Team We provide treatment and support to people with complex mental health problems on CPA who do not have a diagnosis of psychosis (schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, psychotic depression and other psychiatric disorders). The services is provided by a varied team including psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, psychological therapists, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists and associate mental health workers. 14

16 The Complex Care Teams provide out-patient psychological therapy, as well as comprehensive integrated care packages for patients with complex problems on CPA without a diagnosis of psychosis. The service is comprised of three Complex Needs Teams with one in each of the three Trust boroughs. We offer treatment through medication, psychological therapy and or support with day-to-day life. Treatments we offer include: Individual Therapy including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) and psychotherapy If you need extra support and are under CPA, we offer care coordination to identify and support your psychological and social needs. You will be allocated a care coordinator who is a qualified community mental health nurse or social worker. Specialist Treatment including Cognitive Behavioural therapy and group therapy for people with complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Group therapy ranging from 6-10 weekly sessions Other elements of the service include support to facilitate appropriate access to social services care where needed, including community care assessments, and carer assessment and support. Patients with complex problems on CPA without a diagnosis of psychosis (schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, psychotic depression and other psychiatric disorders) Patients are referred into the Complex Care Team through the Intake service. Once a referral is received, a full assessment will take place to decide on the treatment that is most appropriate. Eating Disorder Service We are a National Specialist Eating Disorders Service based in North London. We provide specialist care and treatment to people aged 18 years and above suffering with a primary diagnosis of an eating disorder: Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, Atypical Eating Disorder and psychological treatment for obesity. The Chase Building, Chase Farm Hospital, The Ridgeway, Enfield, EN2 8JL (ARC entrance) Tel: / 5021 / 5023 Fax: Manager: Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr. Spyros Karvounis We are a multi-skilled team of nurses, doctors and psychological therapists, who all work together, to help understand individual psychological needs. The service provides comprehensive assessment and treatment programmes for service users between the ages of 18 and 65, with complex personality difficulties. The Service has teams based in the boroughs of Haringey and Enfield, which provide: a comprehensive assessment service for personality disorder a twelve-week psycho-educational group treatment programme an intensive outpatient programme of group and individual psychotherapy plus psychiatric review, for a period of 18 months Individualised follow-up programmes for patients treated within the unit In addition, the service in Haringey includes: a day unit offering a 5-day-per week programme of group and individual psychotherapy, plus psychiatric review, for a period of up to 2 years, for patients across the boroughs who are most severely and chronically impaired by their symptoms; 16

18 an outpatient programme of weekly group and monthly individual psychotherapy, plus psychiatric review, for individuals with a diagnosis of Antisocial Personality Disorder, for a period of up to 1 year; This service is for people between the ages of 18 and 65, with complex personality difficulties living in the boroughs of Enfield and Haringey. The service can help individuals who have difficulty in understanding their emotional responses to situations, and whose moods fluctuate readily and seemingly without explanation. We can also help those who have difficulty in reading other people s responses towards them, and are often mistrustful, feeling people are mainly motivated by bad intent. What are the next stages to recovery Before the end of the programmes, therapists work with service users to review their progress and their care needs. Follow-on care and treatment is then planned carefully and organised on an individualised basis. Referrals can be made by any health professional working with the service user, including GP's, inpatient and home treatment teams and non-medical clinicians such as nurses and Occupational Therapists and probation officers. Referrals can be made through Intake, or through the Personality Disorder Liaison Service that works directly with the Inpatient and Home Treatment Teams. 17
