3 welcome to kosta boda Founded in 1742, Kosta is Sweden s oldest glassworks. However, although its historical ties remain strong, Kosta Boda is one of the foremost exponents of innovative, modern design. Today, Kosta Boda is one of the world s leading glass brands. Glass from Kosta Boda is noted for its artistry, its colour and a design idiom like no other. Our range contains a wide assortment of personal gifts either for yourself or for a close friend. Anna Ehrner, Kjell Engman, Ulrica Hydman-Vallien, Åsa Jungnelius, Ludvig Löfgren, Bertil Vallien and Göran Wärff are designers working for Kosta Boda today. The artist Ernst Billgren has worked on a few projects for Kosta Boda under the title New Friends and this collection also includes products by Olle Borzén and Ann Wärff, each an artist of great originality who can rely on the assistance of a team of skilled craftsmen both in the blowing room and in the cutting and painting shops. Cooperation and communication between designer and craftsmen are close and are crucial in transforming ideas and sketches into glass. Together, they make Kosta Boda a brand with a strong, multifaceted personality. Konstnären Ernst Billgren har arbetat med ett projekt under namnet New Friends för Kosta Boda och i kollektionen ingår också produkter av Olle Brozén och Ann Wärff. Dessa färgstarka konstnärer har hjälp av skickliga hantverkare, både i hyttan, sliperiet och i målarverkstaden. Samarbetet och kommunikationen mellan dem är nära och betyder allt då skisser och idéer ska bli glas. Tillsammans gör de Kosta Boda till ett varumärke med en stark och mångfacetterad personlighet. 3

5 Every glass object made in our hot shop is created with meticulous care and has passed between the hands of many skilled craftsmen before it reaches the shelf in the shop. Our products are decorated with patterns boldly executed in vibrant colours. Each stroke of the brush is rendered by hand something of which we re exceedingly proud. At you can see videos showing the glassworks. Then I use aesthetics as a way of depicting the objective world in my own subjective manner. Often, I use stereotypical artefacts as a model or reference in order to highlight or destroy the myth and its significance. As for glass itself, I love its glitter and shiny, hard surfaces, especially as a contrast to other materials. I första hand vill jag göra föremål som har berättandet i fokus. I describe atmosphere, depict moods through references both to history and to the present. Molten glass enables me to work with sculpture and pictures simultaneously. Glass can be seductive, beautiful, soft and compliant to work with. But at the same time it can scar you for life. Min inställning till glas är sensibel, passionerad och uthållig. It has everything. For me, the blowing room is the centre of everything. It s like ladling matter out of a volcano and watching the glowing lava turn to ice. 93 General terms of delivery and payment Our offers are subject to change. Orders become legally binding upon receipt of written confirmation. All orders taken at trade fairs, exhibitions etc. can be refused in writing within 60 days by the management of Orrefors Kosta Boda. Orders are always accepted with reservation for possible delivery or acceptance problems by the supply factories. We reserve the right to make partial deliveries. The stipulated delivery times are not binding. In the event of a significant delay in delivery the buyer has the right to withdraw from the contract with regard to the non-delivered article(s). Further claims are not recognised. All prices are in EURO and do not cover insurance and freight charge. The freight and insurance will be added on the invoice unless the buyer chooses to use other insurance and/or transportation. For long distance transportation a packaging fee will be added. We reserve the right to change prices at any time. Statutory VAT is not separately stipulated on the invoice (EC acquisition). In accordance with German tax laws VAT is declared by the buyer regarding turnover tax and correspondingly set off against input-tax reduction. In the event of damage of insured products, breakages must be placed at the disposal of the insurance until such time as Orrefors Kosta Boda has issued a credit note. Breakages detected upon unpacking the product can only be refunded if reported without delay on the form provided, signed by management or an employee of Orrefors Kosta Boda. Complaints are only recognised within 14 days of receipt of the product. For hidden defects the deadline is one year. Freight costs for return of products that are the subject of a complaint will be borne by Orrefors Kosta Boda. For other returns, the sender must bear the freight costs. Settlement of our invoices is due 45 days after the billing date. For payment after the due date, interest will be charged in accordance with the relevant rate. All products delivered remain our property until completely paid for. The buyer is entitled to resell the products within the parameters of proper business. In the event of resale the buyer assigns to us the debts and other claims regarding his customers arising from resale, with all subsidiary rights. The buyer remains empowered to withdraw the assigned claims. But in the event of stoppage of payment, application for or initiation of bankruptcy, a court or out-of-court settlement procedure or other assets procedure, Orrefors Kosta Boda can demand from the buyer that he announce the assigned claims and their debtors, supply all information necessary for collection, issue the relevant documentation and notify the debtor of the assignment. The buyer is obliged to notify us without delay of any levies of execution. Our terms of delivery and payment apply to the present business and all future business in the appropriate version. Any change in the purchasing terms is only valid if confirmed in writing by Orrefors Kosta Boda. The place of fulfilment and jurisdiction is Orrefors, Sweden. 93
