With Liberty at your side, you re never alone. As part of your Standard or Comprehensive Funeral Plan, we offer additional benefits through CIMS South Africa to the policyholder and all the lives insured, upon the death of any of the lives insured. Call CIMS 24 hour Call Centre on to discuss how they can help when you need it most. CIMS 24 hour Call Centre:
4 Transportation of the body of the deceased Sometimes loved ones pass away far from home. When that happens, getting your loved ones to the place of burial can be difficult and expensive. Upon death of an insured life, contact CIMS 24 Hour Call Centre and they will assist you with the transportation of the deceased to the place of burial, within South Africa, at no charge. If your religious custom requires you to have a family member travel with the deceased to the place of burial, CIMS will arrange that 1 family member accompany the body of the deceased in transit, also free of charge. They will also provide you with unlimited telephonic assistance to help you with referrals for autopsy or pathology, as well as recommendations on funeral homes. Benefit: Upon death of an insured life 24 Hours, 365 days a year Assistance with documentation to move the deceased across the border Financial or service limitation Unlimited telephonic assistance services Assistance with referrals for autopsy/pathology Consideration of religious customs for correct removal of the body Recommendation of undertakers/mortuaries Transportation of the deceased body to a funeral home nearest to the place of burial Financially unlimited Transferring ashes to place of residence after cremation A family member can accompany the body of the deceased to the place of burial at no additional cost WITH YOU EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. 5 Help When Arranging The Funeral When you need help with any aspect of your funeral planning, CIMS are only a phone call away. The Funeral Assistance Service gives you unlimited telephonic information and advice when it comes to arranging the funeral. From advice on choice of coffin to assistance on obtaining medical and death certificates, booking of the grave to trauma counselling and more, they ll help you through the process. See below a detailed list of all they offer: Benefit: Upon death of an insured life 24 Hours, 365 days a year Assistance with choice of coffin and delivery thereof to undertaker Financial or service limitation Unlimited telephonic assistance services Assistance with procedures prior to, during and after the funeral Obtaining of medical certificates, burial orders and death certificates Booking of the grave or crematorium with relevant authority If the funeral is more than 50km away from normal place of residence, they'll assist in making the necessary transportation arrangements on behalf of the policyholder and contribute up to the limit as specified towards the transportation costs to attend the funeral Limited up to R7 500, incl.14% VAT, per event Arrangement of hearse Unlimited telephonic assistance services Preparation of the gravesite, including mats, artificial grass and lowering device Arranging of flowers, catering, marquee and other equipment as needed Specific attention is paid to religious and ancestral customs Arranging of accommodation and transport if needed for next-of-kin to identify body when deceased is away from place of residence. Actual costs of transport and accommodation, however, is paid for by family members. Arranging of overnight accommodation for immediate family to attend the funeral. The actual costs of the accommodation are paid for by family members. Accounting and administration procedures prior to, during and following the funeral Claims administration assistance: Interpretation of the Liberty policy and communication of clams to the relevant insurance company via the dedicated Share Call Number Discounted tombstone and funeral related services Bereavement and trauma counselling (unlimited over the phone) 15% discounted tomb stone benefit only at selected funeral homes* Face-to-face trauma counselling up to a maximum of R5 000 per year. *Note: The 15% discount on tombstones is based on the retail price of the actual tombstone. Additional charges for the transportation and erection of the tombstone will be for the policyholder s account. CIMS 24 hour Call Centre:
6 Legal And Will Assistance Helpline Very few people feel confident dealing with legal issues or simply don t know what to do. With the Legal and Will Assistance Helpline, CIMS gives you unlimited telephonic advice and information on all legal aspects relating to a death or the drafting and interpretation of a Will, as well as Estate Administration. You can also obtain a standard Will document through CIMS Call Centre on The full list of benefits is below: Benefit: Upon death of an insured life Telephonic legal assistance regarding funeral or cremation procedures Financial or service limitation Unlimited telephonic assistance services Telephonic assistance with legal interpretation of the Funeral Insurance Policy Unlimited telephonic advice on all death related legal issues Telephonic assistance on the interpretation of legal documents Access to standard Will documents Telephonic assistance with the drafting of a Will Telephonic assistance regarding Estate Administration If deemed necessary by our Call Centre, they will refer you to a national network of approved legal practitioners 2x30 minute face-to-face consultations with an attorney (per case) should the matter not be resolved telephonically by the legal adviser, at no cost to the policyholder WITH YOU EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. 7 HIV (Accidental Exposure) And Trauma Helpline HIV is a scary disease - at Liberty we try to take a bit of the fear and confusion out of it. In the case of accidental exposure to HIV, for example rape, or a needle prick, CIMS will give you all the emergency advice and information you need in order to understand what to do. Benefit: Upon incident Financial or service limitation Emergency transportation to an appropriate medical facility following accidental exposure to HIV Financially unlimited - subject to NHRPL Rates (National Health Reference Price List) Unlimited confidential telephonic HIV counselling Unlimited telephonic assistance service Referral to rape centre, if applicable, as well as laboratories Unlimited use of HIV trauma, advice and counselling centre Prophylactic 8-day starter pack of anti-retroviral treatment Course of anti-retroviral therapy Initial HIV test HIV test 3 months post exposure If required, CIMS offers treatment for sexually transmitted diseases If required, CIMS will provide the Morning After Pill Consultations with a medical practitioner after exposure If you live in a rural area, CIMS can facilitate drug availability through courier CIMS will refer you to the closest facility for antiretroviral medication Advice on side-effects of medication and drug interactions Referral to face-to-face counselling; group and individual Psychiatric consultations CIMS 24 hour Call Centre:
8 Emergency Ambulance At No Cost To You Enjoy the comfort of knowing that if you or your family as insured on your policy are in an accident or a life threatening event, you can access Emergency Ambulance Services through the Call Centre on An ambulance unit will transport the patient to the closest, most appropriate medical facility at no cost to you as the Liberty customer. 9 Get A Lawyer Working For You Sometimes, a lawyer is needed to sort out complicated issues arising around the death of a loved one. When this happens, the expense can be high. With this benefit you get a lawyer on your side up to a maximum limit of R per year. The family of the deceased can have legal representation in any court within South Africa by a lawyer selected from a network of experienced lawyers throughout South Africa. Benefit: Upon death of an insured life Financial or service limitation Lawyers who are available 24 hours a day Limited up to R per Policy per year Comprehensive and powerful legal protection A one-stop, hassle free legal service A 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year call centre service Legal advice and assistance Legal documents, such as lease agreements, sale or purchase contracts and power of attorney Legal representation in any court (High or Lower Courts), or forum Legal assistance by the top practicing lawyers in SA Lawyers who have more than 5 years' practical experience Lawyers who are categorised in their field of expertise No excess or other payments by the Life Insured for legal services Upon defined/specified events as noted below and subject to and/or related to an insured event, the immediate family will have access to legal assistance and representation in court, including cost up to a maximum of R50 OOO per Policy per annum. 10 Legal Representation The life insured and his/her immediate family are entitled to specific legal advice and legal representation and litigation by qualified legal representatives in any court (High and Low Courts), or forum anywhere in South Africa, only on the following matters (subject to the terms and conditions): 1. Civil claims instituted by the policyholder (regarding matters set out in this service schedule) 2. Civil claims instituted against the policyholder (regarding matters set out in this service schedule) 3. Family violence 4. Culpable Homicide as a result of an accident 5. Child abuse 6. Children s rights 7. School related legal disputes 8. Lease agreements (Landlord and tenant) 9. Malpractice by doctors 10. Negligence in hospitals 11. Disputes with medical aid companies Personal and bodily injuries Homeowner legal problems 14. Contracts (Drawing up of and disputes) 15. Wills 16. Legal disputes regarding financial services 17. Blacklisting - Removal of your name from the Credit Bureau List 18. Unlawful blacklisting Exclusions The following is excluded from the Legal Representation: 1. Events that occurred outside the borders of South Africa 2. Events which occurred before the commencement of membership 3. Matters adjudicated in the small claims court 4. Business related matters 5. Debt review, counselling or rehabilitation 6. Insolvencies and administration of estates 7. Water and electricity account disputes 8. Investment and pension/provident fund disputes 9. Citizenship related legal problems 10. Land claims 11. Constitutional Court proceedings 12. Any act or activity pertaining to political activity/riot, civil commotion, labour riot/ strike/lockout or public disorder 13. 11 Extra Savings On Groceries And More In the event of death, there are always unexpected expenses. You will be provided with a coupon saving booklet that gives you discounts on things you need such as groceries and lifestyle items. The coupon savings booklet can save you up to R300. Call the CIMS Call Centre on for more information. Airtime On Us After the death of an insured life, you can stay in touch with friends and family without it costing you. The surviving family member will be provided with a once off pre-paid airtime voucher to the value of R250, helping you to organise everything easily. This benefit is not exchangeable for cash and must be requested within 3 months of the death of the insured. Call the CIMS Call Centre on for more information. R250 Free Electricity Don t get caught out by the unexpected expense of a funeral or friends and family visiting. Upon the death of an insured life, the surviving family will be provided with R250 pre-paid electricity per month for a 3 month period at no cost to you. Should you not have a pre-paid electricity meter, CIMS can arrange for the benefit to be paid into your valid municipal electricity account over the 3 month period.
