2015 report to our community
Chevron Pascagoula Refinery
letter from our refinery general manager Friends, While we did not have any major projects underway, 2015 was a busy year for the Chevron Pascagoula Refinery. More than 1,500 employees and 2,500 contractors worked nearly 6 million hours to provide high-quality energy products to our customers and value to our investors. We work hard to operate safely and responsibly, to be a good corporate citizen, and to be a partner in the community s progress. Chevron has been part of Jackson County for more than 50 years, and throughout that time we have been proud to support programs that help make this community such a special place. In 2015, Chevron employees volunteered more than 7,000 hours with organizations and non-profits throughout the area. Through contributions totaling more than $1 million, we also continued our efforts in economic development, our investment in local students, and our focus on health and the environment. Whether expanding STEM education in Jackson County schools, cleaning up trash in our inland waterways, or collecting food and toys to benefit local families in need, we are grateful for the partnerships that make these efforts successful. This report provides insight into the many ways Chevron is involved in our community. I hope you find it informative, and share our vision for the continued improvement of the quality of life for residents in Jackson County and the entire coastal region. Sincerely, Bruce Chinn Pascagoula Refinery General Manager 2015 Report to Our Community 3

The Chevron Way is our organization s philosophy of doing business by getting results the right way. Our community efforts are built on this principle, which distinguishes us and guides our actions. We conduct our business in a socially responsible and ethical manner. We respect the law, support human rights, protect the environment and help benefit the communities where we work. In Jackson County, we focus our community engagement program in the following areas. Education: 62% Environment & Health / Social Well-being, Other: 22% Economic Development: 16% 2015 Report to Our Community 5
educating and training Chevron Pascagoula Refinery s support for education focuses on early childhood (birth to five years old), Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) K-12 education, and youth development initiatives. We are dedicated to helping our community prosper by equipping today s students for tomorrow s opportunities. Widening Horizons In 2015, Chevron again supported the annual Pathways2Possibilities career expo, an interactive event to introduce 8th-graders across the Gulf Coast to opportunities in various fields. Chevron Pascagoula Refinery
CHEVRON FUEL YOUR SCHOOL Fuel Your School is an innovative collaboration between Chevron and DonorsChoose.org to help fund eligible classroom projects in several U.S. markets where Chevron has operations. In October 2015, Jackson County schools received $50,000 from the Fuel Your School Campaign. The Refinery also contributed an additional $121,000 to DonorsChoose.org projects through a corporate sponsored initiative. 8 educating and training Focus on the Future For more than a decade, Chevron has been a proud supporter of Excel By 5, an early childhood education community initiative to make sure children are happy, healthy and ready to learn. In 2015, Excel By 5 had approximately 30,000 beneficiaries and worked with almost 40 Mississippi communities. Expanding STEM Opportunities Project Lead The Way, with Chevron funding, has expanded from one pilot high school in Jackson County in 2013, to 17 elementary schools, six middle schools and six high schools with PLTW programs. The organization inspires and empowers K-12 students to build and demonstrate in-demand, transportable skills by applying problem-solving strategies to complex, real-world challenges. This year, 31 Refinery engineers volunteered as class mentors to local Project Lead The Way classrooms. Chevron Pascagoula Refinery
Healthy Eating The Refinery supports the MS Gulf Coast Youth Health Coalition s Childhood Obesity Initiative and Let s Go! Gulf Coast program to encourage our youngest citizens to develop healthy eating habits for life. Let s Go! Gulf Coast motivates individuals to have a daily goal of five or more fruits and vegetables, two hours or less of recreational screen time, one hour or more of physical activity and zero sugary drinks. Local Education In 2015, Chevron donated $250,000 to a new joint Mississippi State University / Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College engineering program. For the first time, students will be able to pursue a 4-year engineering degree at the MGCCC Jackson County Campus. 10 protecting our environment We believe that developing energy and protecting natural resources go hand in hand. With some of the industry s highest environmental standards, the Pascagoula Refinery is home to a variety of native wildlife and four successful wetland mitigation sites. Whether partnering with local conservation agencies, working with local students to spread knowledge about their environment or collecting litter in Jackson County, the Pascagoula Refinery continues to make a positive difference in environmental outreach and advocacy. Environmental Stewardship In 2015, as part of Earth Day, Chevron launched an awareness campaign to highlight the efforts of people and organizations in the community who are advocates for the environment. Refinery volunteers also helped collect waste during Jackson County s annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day, and worked with Cherokee Elementary to plant fruits and vegetables. Chevron Pascagoula Refinery
Pascagoula River Audubon Center The new 5,000-square-foot Pascagoula River Audubon Center in Moss Point opened its doors on October 15th. Chevron has partnered with the Audubon Society in Jackson County for over a decade, and contributed over $1 million to support the creation of the center s educational and conservation programs. The center will serve as a community and tourist destination, and a focal point of wetland and habitat restoration along the Pascagoula River and coastal Mississippi Report to Our Community 11
growing economic development 50 Chevron Property Taxes County Taxes School Taxes Taxes in millions of dollars '75 '76 '77 '78 '79 '80 '81 '82 '83 '84 '85 '86 '87 '88 '89 '90 '91 '92 '93 '94 '95 '96 '97 '98 '99 '00 '01 '02 '03 '04 '05 '06 '07 '08 '09 '10 '11 '12 '13 '14 Since operations began in 1963, the Chevron Pascagoula Refinery has grown to be Chevron s largest refinery and one of the country s top ten petroleum refineries. Our continuous growth has been fueled by a shared economic development strategy based on solid, long-term investments that continue to benefit both our company and the community. Our success also would not have been possible without local partners, and we are proud that in 2014 the Chevron Pascagoula Refinery spent $381 million on goods and services provided by Jackson County businesses. Chevron Pascagoula Refinery
Supporting Local Suppliers Once again, the Pascagoula Refinery proudly supported the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce s Industrial Trade Show. Chevron volunteers assist in planning and executing a successful event that encourages local sources by highlighting local vendors and suppliers. Small Business in Jackson County Chevron Pascagoula Refinery is a supporter of many small business initiatives in Jackson County. Whether it s through involvement in the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce Small Business Issue Management Group, or support for the Jackson County Small Business Incubator, we know that a healthy local economy helps ensure shared success for the whole community. Excellence in Exporting In 2015, Chevron Pascagoula Refinery was recognized as one of Mississippi s Export Champions for its success in exporting. The award acknowledged the Refinery for its support of economic growth in Mississippi Report to Our Community 13
the power of human energy As the Chevron Pascagoula Refinery has grown through the years, one thing that hasn t changed is Chevron s commitment to the community. Whether partnering with local nonprofits, hosting local high schoolers for Career Day and tours of the refinery, or raising money for local initiatives, it s the Refinery employees and contractors who make the difference. We salute both the volunteers and the charitable organizations for being forces for positive change in our community every day. Career Day Over 200 Refinery employees helped make the annual 2015 Chevron Career Day a success. The two-day event brought in over 400 students from local schools to learn about Science, Technology & Math (STEM) careers and take a tour of the Refinery. Commemorating Katrina Anniversary To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, Chevron partnered with Habitat for Humanity of the Mississippi Gulf Coast (HFHMGC) to help build a new Pascagoula home. Local Fire Training Every year, the Pascagoula Refinery hosts dozens of local professional and volunteer firefighters for specialized training. Chevron Pascagoula Refinery
Toy Drive In 2015, Refinery volunteers organized a toy drive and sponsored holiday gifts for over 110 children. In addition, over $2,500 in cash was raised. American Heart Association Once again, Chevron employees, families and friends participated in the American Heart Association s annual Jackson County Heart Walk. Team Chevron raised over $2,000. Supporting Proud Traditions More than 40 racers crossed the finish line at the 23rd annual Deborah Washington Memorial Soap Box Derby in Moss Point. Chevron volunteers participated in the event by keeping the official heat times, keeping water off of the derby cars, passing out water and cheering the racers on! Chevron HumanKind Chevron HumanKind is a company-wide initiative that, among other things, matches financial contributions made by employees and retirees to nonprofits. In 2015, Chevron Pascagoula Refinery and it s employees contributed more than $800,000 to area non-profits, including the 2015 Campaign for United Way of Jackson and George Counties Report to Our Community 15
