4 Specific Project Objectives - ENRICH To strengthen STI co-operation in EA countries by promoting operational and effective management of R&I activities with a special focus on energy access and efficiency Building capacities with 3 workshops for partner HEIs for the sustainability of the network (Research Support Offices and Policies & Procedures; Fundraising & Grant writing; Project & Intellectual Property Management) Development of an online interactive STI support portal for sharing STI national and regional policies, experts in the energy and environment sectors and case studies in EA Setting up 3 STI support national networks promoted by partner HEIs with a specific focus on energy access and efficiency as a meeting point for academia, researchers, policy makers and relevant stakeholders (replicate 3 trainings workshops, organise 2 national roundtables, search regional synergies during the 2 supranational conferences ) Networking & Regional Dialogue 4

5 Specific Project Objectives - SUCCEED Network To promote East African university campuses as living laboratories for sustainability and energy efficiency Creating sustainable campus development IT platform with e-courses in energy access and efficiency Development of on-line courses on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency for partners technical, administrative and academic staff and beyond (EE for Teaching; Monitoring and Evaluation of EE Projects/Units; Good Practices for EE on-campus; EE in university campuses; EE for Sustainable Development; Small scale hydro-power systems; Fundraising strategies in PCM Energy projects ; Financial engineering for Engineering; Renewable energy) Creating on-campus Energy Efficiency Units at 5 partner HEIs to promote energy efficiency & support staff at HEIs for better practices in EE and to perform EE Audits in campus buildings and for off-campus stakeholders (e.g. schools) Curriculum Development & Improvement of practices 5

7 EDULINK /ACP S&T Synergies E-COURSES SUCCEED will develop online courses for students/staff on Energy Efficiency or Renewable Energy Courses will also be used by ENRICH consortium and integrated in the EA STI STI Support Portal UNITS & STI NETWORKS SUCCEED units will support initiatives by ENRICH & cooperate with HEIs Burundi & Rwanda could create their National STI support networks NETWORKING mutual awareness on energy efficiency & joint participation in project events (national roundtables & supranational conferences) POOL OF EXPERTS ENRICH will create one in Energy & Environment SUCCEED can integrate its experts, including experts from Burundi and Rwanda 7
