14 AFCOM History Formed by Len Ekhaus over 30 years ago AFCOM Stood for: Association for Computer Operations Management Need to be able to communicate with others in the field 14

15 AFCOM History At the peek AFCOM had members AFCOM reached 50 Chapters at one time Association grew and created Data Center World Grew so fast two Data Center World Conferences were created Now the largest Data Center Conference Last Spring 1200 Attendees 15

16 AFCOM History Focus seemed to move from the data center to facility practices Energy conservation was a popular topic Saving Money Needed at the time But Not all the data center community was served Lost the vision to serve the entire Data Center Ecosystem 16

17 AFCOM History Membership started to drop Not all were being served Chapters struggled some folded Attention to the chapters was not a priority Facilities continued to dominate It was much needed at the time, but not all are facility professionals Technology in the data center was changing drastically VM Storage Security 17

18 New AFCOM AFCOM was acquired by inet Interactive on 12/2011 Inet a company serves its special interest communities with online properties, events, and publications Current Administration was stepping down Time for a change 18
