1 Aims & Scope Editorial Board Peer Review Policy For Authors Submit Manuscript Aims & Scope Mevlana International Journal of Education (MIJE) publishes researches employing a variety of qualitative and/or quantitative methods and approaches in all areas of the education field. The aim of the journal is to increase understanding of learning and teaching in pre-primary, primary, secondary, higher and adult education, and to contribute to the improvement of educational processes and outcomes. MIJE is an open access journal that publishes high-quality articles, in English, in all areas of education. All articles published in MIJE will be peer-reviewed. 5 Peer Review Process The practice of peer review is to ensure that good science is published. It is an objective process at the heart of good scholarly publishing and is carried out on all reputable scientific journals. Our referees therefore play a vital role in maintaining the high standards of MIJE and all manuscripts are peer reviewed following the procedure outlined below. The Editor or Associated Editors first evaluate all manuscripts. Those rejected at this stage are insufficiently original, have serious scientific flaws, have poor grammar or English language, or are outside the aims and scope of the journal. Those that meet the minimum criteria are passed on to at least 2 experts for review. Authors of manuscripts rejected at this stage will be informed within 2 weeks of receipt. This journal employs double blind reviewing, where both the referee and author remain anonymous throughout the process. Referees are matched to the paper according to their expertise. We welcome suggestions for referees from the author though these recommendations may or may not be used. Referees are asked to evaluate whether the manuscript: - Is original - Is methodologically sound - Follows appropriate ethical guidelines - Has results which are clearly presented and support the conclusions - Correctly references previous relevant work. Typically the manuscript will be reviewed within 2 months. Should the referees' reports contradict one another or a report is unnecessarily delayed a further expert opinion will be sought. Referees may request more than one revision of a manuscript. A final decision to accept or reject the manuscript will be sent to the author along with any recommendations made by the referees, and may include verbatim comments by the referees. Referees advise the Editors, who are responsible for the final decision to accept or reject the article. When a decision for publication or rejection is made, the first author or author designated to receive correspondence is notified. General Guidelines Material must be original, reflect the integrity expected of scholarly communication, and demonstrate a coherence and unity that makes the paper both understandable and interesting. Before submitting an article, please review the following suggestions. Original manuscripts received in correct form serve to expedite the review process, others will be returned to the author. Spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, and the mechanical elements of Mevlana International Journal of Education (MIJE) Page 5
6 arrangements, spacing, length, and consistency of usage in form and descriptions should be studied before submission. Written manuscripts should be in English. The manuscript must conform to the style of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), 6th Edition. Manuscripts should be double -spaced, and font face must be Times New Roman 12 point. Paper Size must be A4 (21x29.7) (top and bottom 2.5; left and right 3 cm space). (Please use the Word Templates Given at the End) Language Manuscript language must be English Copyright This journal is copyrighted by Mevlana University. Material published and so copyrighted may not be published elsewhere without the written permission of MIJE. No manuscript will be considered which has already been published or is being considered by another journal. Format Submit your manuscript in WORD FORMAT - Microsoft Word (.doc or docx ) Do not use any word processing options/tools, such as--strike through, hidden text, comments, merges, and so forth. Due to the academic focus of this publication, the use of personal pronoun (I, we, etc.) and present tense is strongly discouraged. Length Because this is an electronic journal, the length of papers may vary. The length of your paper should be appropriate to the topic and focus. Originality All manuscripts must be original. The manuscripts will not be considered if they have already been published or being considered by another magazine or journal. However, if work described in conference proceedings is substantially revised and extended, it will be considered. Submission of a manuscript represents certification by the author that the article is not being considered nor has been published elsewhere. Abstract Each article should include an informative, comprehensive abstract of 150 to 200 words. This abstract should succinctly summarize the major points of the paper, and the author's summary and/or conclusions. Mevlana International Journal of Education (MIJE) Page 6
7 Credits and Acknowledgements Acknowledgments or appreciation to individuals for assistance with the manuscript or with the material reported should be included in the Acknowledgment at the end of the article. Tables and Figures All tables (composed according to APA 6th) and figures must be embedded in the manuscript near the first reference to the corresponding table. Tables and figures MUST be no wider than 500 pixels (5.25"). References Reference must conform to the style of the Publication Manual of the APA6th Edition. Cite references in text. References are cited in the text in alphabetical order (the same way they appear in the reference list), separated by a semi-colon. (Korkmaz, 2002; Usta, 2007) Name both authors in the signal phrase or in the parentheses each time you cite the work. Use the word and between the authors names within the text and use & inthe parentheses. Research by Korkmaz and Usta (2001) showed... (Korkmaz & Usta, 1994) Three or more authors Use the first author s name followed by et al. in the signal phrase or in parentheses. Korkmaz et al. (2011) argued... (Korkmaz et al., 2011) Citing indirect sources If you use a source that was cited in another source, name the original source in your signal phrase. List the secondary source in your reference list and include the secondary source in the parentheses. Johnson argued that... (as cited in Korkmaz, 2009, p. 71). 9 Authors are named by last name followed by initials (closed up); publication year goes between parentheses, followed by a full stop (period). Only the first word and proper nouns in the title and subtitle are capitalized. The periodical title has main words capitalized, and is followed by the volume number which, with the title, is also italicized and then the DOI. Provide the issue number ONLY if each issue of the journal begins on page 1.
